A Hybrid Numerical Method Combining Legendre Polynomials and Improved Block-Pulse Functions for Solving Linear Systems of Fredholm Integral Equations

open access: yesAxioms
In order to solve linear systems of Fredholm integral equations, this paper proposes a novel hybrid numerical method that combines improved block-pulse functions with Legendre polynomials.

Pade Method for Construction of Numerical Algorithms for Fractional Initial Value Problem

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2020
In this paper, we propose an efficient method for constructing numerical algorithms for solving the fractional initial value problem by using the Pade approximation of fractional derivative operators. We regard the Grunwald–Letnikov fractional derivative

On Some Branched Continued Fraction Expansions for Horn’s Hypergeometric Function H4(a,b;c,d;z1,z2) Ratios

open access: yesAxioms, 2023
The paper deals with the problem of representation of Horn’s hypergeometric functions by branched continued fractions. The formal branched continued fraction expansions for three different Horn’s hypergeometric function H4 ratios are constructed.

Piecewise-quadratic Approximations in Convex Numerical Optimization [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Optimization, 2011
We present a bundle method for convex nondifferentiable minimization where the model is a piecewise-quadratic convex approximation of the objective function. Unlike standard bundle approaches, the model only needs to support the objective function from below at a properly chosen (small) subset of points, as opposed to everywhere.

Feasibility and Safety of High‐Dose Proton Re‐Irradiation in Recurrent Pediatric Central Nervous System Tumors: A Single‐Institution Retrospective Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Pediatric central nervous system (CNS) tumors often recur despite multimodality therapy. Although re‐irradiation (re‐RT) has historically been limited by concerns for severe late toxicities, modern techniques have renewed interest in this approach. Proton therapy provides dosimetric advantages that may enable curative re‐treatment with

Superconvergence in a DPG method for an ultra-weak formulation

open access: yes, 2017
In this work we study a DPG method for an ultra-weak variational formulation of a reaction-diffusion problem. We improve existing a priori convergence results by sharpening an approximation result for the numerical flux. By duality arguments we show that

Feasibility and Preliminary Efficacy of Integrative Neuromuscular Training for Childhood Cancer Survivors: A Pilot Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often exhibit early deficits in muscle and movement competence, which can compromise long‐term health. Integrative neuromuscular training (INT), a multifaceted approach combining fundamental movement activities with strength exercises, may help address these deficits during ...

Dynamic programming approach to structural optimization problem - numerical algorithm [PDF]

open access: yesOpuscula Mathematica, 2014
In this paper a new shape optimization algorithm is presented. As a model application we consider state problems related to fluid mechanics, namely the Navier-Stokes equations for viscous incompressible fluids.

A numerical magnetohydrodynamic scheme using the hydrostatic approximation

open access: yes, 2013
In gravitationally stratified fluids, length scales are normally much greater in the horizontal direction than in the vertical one. When modelling these fluids it can be advantageous to use the hydrostatic approximation, which filters out vertically ...

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.
