Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A cubic spline technique for the one dimensional heat conduction equation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
A new method is developed for the numerical solution of the heat conduction equation in one space dimension by replacing the space derivative with a cubic spline approximation and the time derivative with a finite- difference approximation. The method is

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Instantaneously Impulsive Stabilization of Mittag–Leffler Numerical Chua’s Oscillator

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
The Euler difference approach has become a prevalent tool in the research of integral order differential equations. Nevertheless, a review of the literature reveals a dearth of studies examining fractional order models using the exponential Euler ...

Numerical approximations for damped wave equation with Neumann boundary conditions [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics and Computational Sciences
This research paper investigates the numerical analysis of the damped wave equation (DWE), focusing on the properties of numerical solutions achieved via semi-discrete approximation (SDA) and fully-discrete approximation (FDA) finite element methods ...

Prudence and Robustness as Explanations for Precautionary Savings; an Evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper evaluates approximation methods to make manageable the numerical solution of overlapping generation models with aggregate risk. The paper starts with a model in which households maximize expected utility over their life cycle.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Some Simple Full-Range Inverse-Normal Approximations

open access: yesJournal of Numerical Analysis and Approximation Theory
Two approximations are given for numerically inverting the full range of the standard normal cumulative distribution function. The first approximation has two fitted constants and only modest accuracy but is very simple and well suited for hand ...
