Development of Nanoflare Nanosensors for Monitoring Cellular Insulin mRNA in Beta Cells and Islets

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study presents the design and application of In2‐NF probes for detecting insulin mRNA in beta cells and islets. Using spherical nucleic acid‐coated gold nanoparticles, the probes offer strong fluorescent signals upon hybridization. Their performance is validated across 2D and 3D cultures and rat islets, demonstrating sensitive, real‐time mRNA ...

AN ANALYSIS OF PRODUCERS' OPINIONS ON MANDATORY LABELING OF GM PRODUCTS

open access: yes
This study evaluates producers' perceptions on mandatory labeling of GM food products. The analysis is based on a sample of 1,887 farmers in 10 southern states who claimed to be "somewhat knowledgeable" about biotechnology.

Information Transmission Strategies for Self‐Organized Robotic Aggregation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how information transmission influences the neighbor‐based self‐organized aggregation of swarm robots. We focus specifically on local interactions regarding information transfer and categorize previous studies based on the functions of the information exchanged.

GPR124 Alleviates Blood–Brain Barrier Disruption by Enhancing Microvascular Endothelial Function after Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our study reveals the protective role of GPR124 in maintaining BBB integrity and promoting neurological recovery following TBI. It makes a significant contribution by uncovering a novel molecular interaction between GPR124 and FGFBP1 and linking this to activation of the Wnt/β‐catenin signaling pathway in vascular repair mechanisms.

NUTRITION LABELING: DOES THE MESSAGE REACH THE CONSUMER?

open access: yes
Nutrition labeling does not necessarily lead to healthier diets. Consumers may substitute away from unhealthy products in food categories where differences in other quality characteristics (e.g., taste) are relatively small and towards unhealthy products

Piezo2 Mediates a Vicious Cycle of “Mechanical Homeostasis Imbalance—Inflammation” in Sensory Nerves and the Cartilage Endplate

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In a lumbar spine instability model, dorsal root ganglion cells mediate the perception of relevant mechanical stresses through Piezo2 and subsequently release CGRP. CGRP activates the NF‐κB signaling pathway in cartilage endplate cells through the receptor RAMP1.

Malectin Alleviates Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus via Glycoprotein Quality Control Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Malectin alleviates high glucose‐induced ER stress and damage in placental trophoblasts, a function dependent on its six critical carbohydrate‐binding residues. In a GDM mouse model, administration of TAT‐Malectin ameliorated hyperglycemia and placental ER stress and prevented fetal macrosomia.
