The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Culinary and nutritional quality of Phaseolus vulgaris seeds as affected by environmental factors [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnologie, Agronomie, Société et Environnement, 1999
Efficient selection for specific culinary and nutritional quality traits needs a better understanding of the genetic and environmental control of quality traits at the structural, physiological and biochemical levels.

Effect of inoculants and storage temperature on the microbial, chemical and mycotoxin composition of corn silage [PDF]

open access: yesAsian-Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2018
Objective To evaluate the effect of lactic acid bacteria and storage temperature on the microbial, chemical and mycotoxin composition of corn silage. Methods Corn was harvested at 32.8% dry matter, and chopped to 1 to 2 cm.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Harvest frequency affects herbage accumulation and nutritive value of brachiaria grass hybrids in Florida

open access: yesTropical Grasslands-Forrajes Tropicales, 2014
Brachiaria ‘Mulato II’ is a hybrid brachiaria grass with superior nutritive value when compared with other warm-season grasses. The performance of 2 new brachiaria grass hybrids was compared with that of Mulato II in terms of herbage accumulation ...

Using Proximal Hyperspectral Sensing to Predict Herbage Nutritive Value for Dairy Farming

open access: yesAgronomy, 2020
This study focuses on calibrating and validating models for hyperspectral canopy reflectance data that are useful to predict the nutritive value of ryegrass-white clover mixed herbage available to the grazing cow.

Herbs in grasslands - effect of slurry and grazing/cutting on species composition and nutritive value [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Herbs are established in many organic grasslands due to their expected beneficial properties for nutritive value and biodiversity. However, knowledge about grassland herbs is limited. Three mixtures were therefore established at different grazing/cutting

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.
