The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The AI-Guided Clinical Trial Architect: A Genetic Algorithm and MCDM Platform for Adaptive, Multi-Objective Patient Cohort Selection and Trial Simulation

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy
Introduction: Clinical trial design faces a critical challenge in balancing multiple, often conflicting, objectives such as statistical power, patient safety, cohort diversity, recruitment speed, and cost. While Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithms (MOGA)

Analysing the rate of change in a longitudinal study with missing data, taking into account the number of contact attempts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In longitudinal and multivariate settings incomplete data, due to missed visits, dropouts or non-return of questionnaires are quite common. A longitudinal trial in which potentially informative missingness occurs is the Collaborative Ankle Support ...

Implementation of the 'Sapere Migliora' information aid for newly diagnosed people with multiple sclerosis in routine clinical practice: a late-phase controlled trial.

open access: yes, 2014
BACKGROUND: The SIMS-Trial showed that the 'Sapere Migliora' information aid (IA) for newly diagnosed people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS) effectively improved patient knowledge and satisfaction with care.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Regional lymphadenectomy vs. extended lymphadenectomy for hilar cholangiocarcinoma (Relay-HC trial): study protocol for a prospective, multicenter, randomized controlled trial

open access: yesTrials, 2019
Background The prognostic benefits and safety of extended lymphadenectomy for hilar cholangiocarcinoma remain uncertain. The available evidence is still insufficient concerning its retrospective aspect.
