Mycotoxin occurrence in maize silage : a neglected risk for bovine gut health? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Forages are important components of dairy cattle rations but might harbor a plethora of mycotoxins. Ruminants are considered to be less susceptible to the adverse health effects of mycotoxins, mainly because the ruminal microflora degrades certain ...

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of endo‐1,4‐beta‐xylanase EC 3.2.1.8 produced by Bacillus subtilis LMG S‐15136 (Belfeed B MP/ML) for gestating sows (Puratos NV)

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of Belfeed B MP/ML as a feed additive for gestating sows when used at 10 IU/kg feed.

Label-free impedimetric aptasensor for ochratoxin-A detection using iridium oxide nanoparticles.

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry, 2015
In this article, a novel aptasensor for ochratoxin A (OTA) detection based on a screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) modified with polythionine (PTH) and iridium oxide nanoparticles (IrO2 NPs) is presented.

Safety evaluation of the food enzyme aminopeptidase Y from the genetically modified Trichoderma reesei strain DP‐Nyf80

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract The food enzyme aminopeptidase Y (EC 3.4.11.15) is produced with the genetically modified Trichoderma reesei strain DP‐Nyf80 by Genencor International B.V. The genetic modifications do not give rise to safety concerns. Recombinant DNA was not detected under standard testing conditions. However, the absence of viable cells could not be excluded.

Safety evaluation of the food enzyme aspergillopepsin I from the non‐genetically modified Aspergillus sp. strain AE‐PRHF

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract The food enzyme aspergillopepsin I (EC 3.4.23.18) is produced with the non‐genetically modified Aspergillus sp. strain AE‐PRHF by AMANO ENZYME INC. The food enzyme was free from viable cells of the production organism. It is intended to be used in 15 food manufacturing processes. Since residual amounts of food enzyme–total organic solids (TOS)

Probability models for growth and aflatoxin B1 production as affected by intraspecies variability in Aspergillus flavus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The probability of growth and aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) production of 20 isolates of Aspergillus flavus were studied using a full factorial design with eight water activity levels (0.84e0.98 aw) and six temperature levels (15e40 C).

Mycotoxin detection — Recent trends at global level

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2015
Mycotoxin contamination in agro-food systems has been a serious concern globally during the last few decades. Mycotoxins are toxic secondary metabolites produced by fungi when they grow in agro-food products and feedstuff.
