µ-Oxo-bridged group 15 element–aluminium heterodinuclear porphyrins, [(oep)(Me)M–O–Al(oep)]ClO 4 (M=P, As, Sb), are synthesized by the reaction of [(oep)(Me)M(OH)]- ClO 4 with (oep)AlMe.

An electrochemical and structural study of (OEP)Ir(C/sub 8/H/sub 13/), where OEP is the dianion of octaethylporphyrin and C/sub 8/H/sub 13/ is the cis-bicyclo(3.3.0)oct-1-yl group, is reported. (OEP)Ir(C/sub 8/H/sub 13/) was found to crystallize in the P anti 1 space group with a = 12.78 A, b = 13.33 A, c = 14.20 A, ..cap alpha.. = 58.75/sup 0/, ..beta.
