Reduction of Acrylamide Content and Oil Absorption in Donuts, Using Antioxidant Properties and Unsaponifiable Components of Sesame Oil [PDF]

open access: yesPizhūhish va Nuāvarī dar ̒Ulūm va Sanāyi̒-i Ghaz̠āyī, 2017
In this study, the effect of sesame oil mixture (1 and 2% w/w concentrations) and unsaponifiable components (0.02 and 0.04% w/w concentrations) was compared with frying oil in terms of acrylamide content, oil absorption and moisture in donuts during deep

Ultralight super-hydrophobic carbon aerogels based on cellulose nanofibers/poly(vinyl alcohol)/graphene oxide (CNFs/PVA/GO) for highly effective oil–water separation

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2018
With the worsening of the oil-product pollution problem, oil–water separation has attracted increased attention in recent years. In this study, a porous three-dimensional (3D) carbon aerogel based on cellulose nanofibers (CNFs), poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)

The Investigation of Sage Seed and Persian Gum Coating Effect on Oil Mass Transfer and Quality Attributes of Potato Chips [PDF]

open access: yesPizhūhish va Nuāvarī dar ̒Ulūm va Sanāyi̒-i Ghaz̠āyī, 2017
Growing consumption of fried foods can cause various diseases; therefore it is important to create an appropriate method to reduce oil absorption uptake in these products. In this study, the effects of sage seed gum and Persian gum coating (0.25 and 0.5%

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

The Absorption and Excretion of Castor Oil in Man

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 1963
Abstract Contrary to popular belief castor oil can be absorbed by human subjects. The absorption is inversely related to the dose and in small (4 g.) doses absorption is virtually complete. The fat balance studies were made both by the radio-iodine labelling of castor oil and by a new chemical technique, which utilises the rapid ...
