Estimation of uncertainty in olfactometry

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2009
Estimation of uncertainty in odour measurement is essential to the interpretation of the measurement results. The fundamental procedure for the estimation of measurement uncertainty comprises the specification of the measurement process, expression of the measurement model and all influences, evaluation of the standard uncertainty of each component ...

Characterization of Key Aroma Compounds in Botanical Lujiu Based on Jiang‐Flavor Baijiu by Comparative Aroma Extract Dilution Analysis, Quantitative Measurements, and Aroma Traceability Analysis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
A novel botanical Lujiu with distinctive flavor characteristics was successfully developed based on Jiang‐flavor baijiu through laboratory‐scale production. Optimized quantitative analysis identified key aroma‐active compounds through a sensomics approach, and a high‐sensitivity method was validated.

Effects of Cooking Methods on the Flavor Characteristics of Volatiles of Boletus edulis Based on GC‐IMS, E‐Nose, and Sensory Evaluation

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study successfully established characteristic fingerprints of volatile flavor components in Boletus edulis subjected to different cooking methods. Using principal component analysis (PCA) to quantitatively evaluate changes in flavor substances, and combined with a sensory evaluation system, it comprehensively assessed the impact of cooking ...

The utilization of biochemically modified microfibers from grain by-products as reinforcement for polypropylene biocomposite

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2014
The presented research study aims to evaluate microfibers from grain by-products as a substitute for wood flour in wood-thermoplastic composites. Grain husks are an abundant and cheap source of annual, renewable raw material, which besides lignocellulose,

Prediction of Thermal Modulated Comprehensive Two‐Dimensional Gas Chromatographic Separation Using a Modular, Graph‐Based Simulation Platform

open access: yesJournal of Separation Science, Volume 49, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Comprehensive two‐dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC) offers exceptional separation performance, but method development remains time‐consuming and sensitive to numerous system parameters. In this study, we present a modular simulation framework for GC×GC systems with thermal modulation, implemented in the open‐source Julia package ...

Gas Chromatography–Olfactometry Analyses of Volatiles Produced by ‘Fallglo’ and ‘US Early Pride’ Tangerines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
‘Fallglo’ is a popular tangerine (Citrus reticulata Blanco) cultivar with high eating quality. However, ‘Fallglo’ may contain as many as 30–40 seeds per fruit. ‘US Early Pride’ is a seedless mutation of ‘Fallglo’ with similar quality attributes.

Field Air Sampling and Simultaneous Chemical and Sensory Analysis of Livestock Odorants with Sorbent Tube GC‐MS∕Olfactometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Characterization and quantification of livestock odorants is one of the most challenging analytical tasks because odor‐causing gases are very reactive, polar and often present at very low concentrations in a complex matrix of less important or irrelevant
