Paternal Caffeine Exposure Programs Offspring Stress Vulnerability via Sperm Dlk1‐Dio3 Imprinting‐Directed Remodeling of a Novel Neural Circuit

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study elucidates that paternal preconception stress can drive offspring hyperresponsivity of the stress system via hypomethylation of a specific DNA region in sperm. This key link is confirmed in a cohort of prospective fathers: the epigenetic alteration is associated with elevated stress hormone levels.

The effect of polyamines on the expression of olfactory related genes in the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera: Yponomeutidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2015
Polyamines are nitrogenous compounds that alter the odour sensitivity of insects. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of polyamines on the expression levels of olfactory-related genes in male/female adult diamondback moths, Plutella ...

Evolution of a complex locus : exon gain, loss and divergence at the Gr39a locus in Drosophila [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background. Gene families typically evolve by gene duplication followed by the adoption of new or altered gene functions. A different way to evolve new but related functions is alternative splicing of existing exons of a complex gene.

SpaMode: A Broadly Applicable Framework for Deciphering Spatial Multi‐Omics Using Multimodal Mixture of Disentangled Experts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SpaMode introduces a versatile framework for spatial multi‐omics integration across vertical, horizontal, and mosaic scenarios. By disentangling modality‐invariant and variant features through a mixture‐of‐experts mechanism, it adaptively reconfigures spatially heterogeneous signals.

A Skull Bone Marrow‐to‐Brain Axis Links Osteoblastic Activity to Myeloid Cell Trafficking, Cerebral Blood Flow, and Cognition in Alzheimer's Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that Alzheimer's disease–linked APP expression in bone‐forming cells drives skull bone marrow remodeling and alters its vascular connections to the brain. These changes disrupt immune cell trafficking, cerebral blood flow, and cognition. Targeting bone marrow macrophages restores brain function, highlighting a previously unrecognized

Real‐Time and Non‐Invasive Detection of Respiratory Viral Infections Using an Intelligent Odor Monitoring System (IOMS)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An intelligent odor monitoring system integrates an IVC animal model, gas sensor array, real‐time resistance readout, and machine‐learning analysis to continuously monitor infection‐associated odor changes. The platform captures longitudinal sensor responses, distinguishes infected from healthy states, and supports early‐stage respiratory viral ...

Genomics of Mature and Immature Olfactory Sensory Neuron [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Excel file contains probabilistic predictions of which genes are expressed in mature versus immature olfactory sensory neurons, versus the sum of all other cell types in the olfactory epithelium.

Composition‐Aware Cross‐Sectional Integration for Spatial Transcriptomics

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Multi‐section spatial transcriptomics demands coherent cell‐type deconvolution, domain detection, and batch correction, yet existing pipelines treat these tasks separately. FUSION unifies them within a composition‐aware latent framework, modeling reads as cell‐type–specific topics and clustering in embedding space.

YY1's DNA-Binding motifs in mammalian olfactory receptor genes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background YY1 is an epigenetic regulator for a large number of mammalian genes. While performing genome-wide YY1 binding motif searches, we discovered that the olfactory receptor (OLFR) genes have an unusual cluster of YY1 binding sites within their ...
