Connexin43 Deficiency Leads to Ventricular Arrhythmias by Reprogramming Proline Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study demonstrated that connexin43 (Cx43) knockout caused arrhythmic phenotype and decreased proline content in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, Cx43 interacts with the amino acid transporter SNAT2 (sodium‐dependent neutral amino acid transporter), and its deficiency disrupts proline transport and metabolism.

Neuroprotective Effects of Time‐Restricted Feeding Combined With Different Protein Sources in MPTP‐Induced Parkinson's Disease Mice Model and Its Modulatory Impact on Gut Microbiota Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) exerts protein‐dependent neuroprotective effects in an MPTP‐induced Parkinson's disease model. In casein‐fed mice, TRF improves gut barrier integrity and reduces neuroinflammation, possibly via modulation of Allobaculum and BCAAs.

ZBTB21 Is a Dual Suppressor of Pyroptosis and MHC‐I Antigen Presentation That Promotes Tumor Immune Evasion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ZBTB21 is a transcription factor that epigenetically suppresses pyroptosis and MHC‐I antigen presentation, enabling tumor immune evasion. Genetic ablation of ZBTB21 activates pyroptotic cell death and enhances antigen presentation, recruiting CD8+ T cells to overcome immune checkpoint blockade resistance.

Metabolic fingerprint after acute and under sustained consumption of a functional beverage based on grape skin extract in healthy human subjects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Grape-derived polyphenols are considered to be one of the most promising ingredients for functional foods due to their health-promoting activities. We applied a HPLC-MS-based untargeted metabolomic approach in order to evaluate the impact of a functional

Non-Halal Gelatin Prediction: A Comparative Machine Learning Analysis between OPLS–DA and ANN Models

open access: yesSains Malaysiana
Gelatin is derived from animal collagen, sourced primarily from bovine or porcine, and finds widespread application within the food industry. These issues raise concern over its halal status, particularly among Muslims and Jews, as they adhere to dietary laws prohibiting the consumption of pork and its derivatives.

Endogenous Ceramide 24:1 Constrains Th17‐Driven Neutrophilic Inflammation by Antagonizing EP2 Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cer24:1 levels are reduced in neutrophilic asthma and inversely correlate with disease severity and airway neutrophilia. Restoring Cer24:1 suppresses pathogenic Th17 differentiation by engaging EP2 on CD4+ T cells, thereby dampening the JAK2–STAT3–RORγt axis and reducing IL‐17 production.

Untargeted Metabolomics Analysis Reveals the Effect of Fixation on the Profile of Volatile Compounds of Cyclocarya paliurus Tea

open access: yesPolish Journal of Food and Nutrition Sciences
Fixation is a necessary tea processing step that affects the quality of tea, including its aroma. However, there are no guidelines to follow whether the Cyclocarya paliurus leaves need to be fixated to produce tea.

PLS-based and regularization-based methods for the selection of relevant variables in non-targeted metabolomics data

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences, 2016
Non-targeted metabolomics constitutes a part of systems biology and aims to determine many metabolites in complex biological samples. Datasets obtained in non-targeted metabolomics studies are multivariate and high-dimensional due to the sensitivity of ...
