Risk Assessment of Clinical Reactions to Legumes in Peanut-Allergic Children

open access: yesWorld Allergy Organization Journal, 2008
Peanut-allergic children might be at risk for reactions to other legumes. However, it is not always possible to perform multiple oral food challenges in children.

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Allergic reactions to milk appear sooner than reactions to hen’s eggs: a retrospective study

open access: yesWorld Allergy Organization Journal, 2016
Background Oral food challenge test doses are recommended to be performed at least 20 min apart; however, the times of symptom provocation from the start of the oral food challenge have never been compared between different foods.

Metastatic niche shaped by host factors influences disseminated cancer cell fate

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metastasis is shaped not only by cancer cells but also by the environments they encounter. This review explores how factors such as aging, diet, the microbiome, lifestyle, and environmental exposures remodel organ‐specific niches in the lung, liver, bone, and brain, influencing where metastatic cells survive, remain dormant, or grow, and ultimately ...

Diagnosing IgE-mediated food allergy: How to apply the latest guidelines in clinical practice

open access: yesJournal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: Global
Background: People suspected of food allergy require accurate diagnosis to help manage their condition and get appropriate care. Recent guidelines summarize the latest evidence about diagnosing IgE-mediated food allergy, but they do not describe how to ...

Diagnosis of Allergic and Nonallergic Food Intolerance in Children

open access: yesВопросы современной педиатрии, 2013
Because the incorrect food avoidance affects quality of life and nutrition, especially in children, there is possible harm in over-diagnosing food allergy.

Oral peanut challenge identifies an allergy but the peanut allergen threshold sensitivity is not reproducible. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
BACKGROUND: Double-blind placebo-controlled food challenge, DBPCFC, the gold standard for diagnosing food allergy, is time-consuming and potentially dangerous.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.
