Autophagy induction by SARS-CoV-2 ORF3a depends on JNK signaling

open access: yes
SARS-CoV-2 open reading frame 3a (ORF3a) is a non-structural and an accessory protein that is involved in the pathogenesis of COVID-19. ORF3a manipulates with autophagosomes and lysosomal degradation to support SARS-CoV-2 replication and egress. The signaling pathways by which ORF3a regulates autophagy are not fully understood.
