A Comparative Study of Organ Donation after Brain Death in Japan and Australia

open access: yes, 2013
P(論文)Objective : (1) To compare the status of organ donation from brain-dead donors in Japan and Australia. (2) To identify the possible reasons for the low rates of organ donation from brain-dead donors. Background : The shortage of available organs for

Soliciting organ donations by medical personnel and organ donation coordinators: A factor analysis.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
The literature on organ donation in Taiwan lacks a discussion of the roles of medical staff, organ donors, and transplant coordinators in organ donation. The biggest plight of organ donation is lack of the organ donations.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Integrative analysis of cuproptosis in kidney ischemia-reperfusion injury: biomarker discovery and diagnostic model construction

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences
PurposeAcute kidney injury (AKI) is often associated with kidney ischemia-reperfusion injury (KIRI), which is a key driver of AKI progression. Although cuproptosis has been implicated in multiple pathological processes, its relevance to KIRI remains ...

The similarities between smDCs and regDCs in alleviating the immune injury caused by transplantation of hepatocytes differentiated from ESCs

open access: yesStem Cell Research & Therapy, 2017
Background This study aimed to investigate the tolerogenic mechanisms induced by semimature dendritic cells (smDCs) and regulatory dendritic cells (regDCs) after transplantation of hepatocytes differentiated from mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and to ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Required Request for Organ Donation: Moral, Clinical, and Legal Problems

open access: yes, 1988
In recent years, the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act, premised on the authority of individual choice for or against donation, has been widely viewed as inadequate to meet the needs of the growing number of potential organ recipients.

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Organ donation within the intensive care unit: A retrospective audit

open access: yes, 2019
BACKGROUND: Despite many Australians supporting organ donation, national posthumous organ donation rates have not increased as expected over the last three decades.
