One‐Pot Transition‐Metal‐Free Methods for the Synthesis of All Three Bonds of the Alkyne's Triple Bond

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
One‐pot transition‐metal‐free methods for the synthesis of all three bonds of the alkyne's triple bond are reviewed. After analysis of several named reactions and discussion of improvements, recent advances in the synthesis of alkynes are discussed. Each section contains a proposed reaction mechanism and analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the ...

Regio‐ and Diastereoselective C–C Silylation of Cyclopropyl Acetates Harnessing Fluorinated Poly(pyridyl)Borate Rhodium Catalysts

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Fluorinated poly(pyridyl)borates have been utilized to stabilize rhodium‐diene complexes and as supporting ligands in rhodium‐catalyzed redox‐neutral C–C silylation of cyclopropyl acetates, producing silicon‐containing heterocyclic products, dioxasilolanes.

Unprecedented Formation of a Formally Cu(III) Trifluoromethyl Hydroxide Tetramer

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Novel high‐valent Cu(III) trifluoromethyl hydroxide scaffold with an unprecedented heterocubane structure was synthesized. Its neutralization reactions with acids afford a broad variety of Cu(III) complexes with two trifluoromethyl groups. Synthetic relevance of this compound for C─CF3 bond formation was demonstrated.

Ion–Molecule Reaction Products as Probes and Precursors for Preparative Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Ion–molecule reactions in the gas phase of mass spectrometers are important for preparative mass spectrometry because they (1) provide knowledge about the intrinsic reactivity of ions, helping to predict and control their reactivity at interfaces, and (2) generate new complex ions that can be mass selected and deposited on surfaces.
