Characterization of bovine liver ornithine aminotransferase

open access: yes, 1986

Regulation of ovarian ornithine decarboxylase by human chorionic gonadotrophin

open access: yes, 1987
Treatment of 29-day-old female Sprague-Dawley rats with human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) produced a large and rapid increase in the activity of ornithine decarboxylase.

Preclinical Efficacy and Safety Evaluation of a Novel Controlled‐Expansion ePTFE‐Covered TIPS Stent in a Swine Model

open access: yesPortal Hypertension &Cirrhosis, EarlyView.
This preclinical study evaluated a novel controlled‐expansion expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE)‐covered transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) stent in 11 swine, demonstrating 100% technical success, excellent deployability, and durable 6‐month angiographic patency without thrombosis, migration, fracture, or device‐related toxicity.

Dietary supplementation of ornithine improved the growth, immune response and acute NH3 stress tolerance of Pacific white shrimp, Penaeus vannamei

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
Ornithine is an arginine family amino acid and is not incorporated into protein. This study evaluated its role in growth, immune response and acute NH3 stress tolerance of Penaeus vannamei.

Current Insight into Human Ornithine Aminotransferase: A Review

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Human ornithine aminotransferase (hOAT) is a mitochondrial matrix pyridoxal‐5′‐phosphate enzyme (PLP) that catalyzes the reversible transfer of the δ‐amino group of L‐ornithine (L‐Orn) to α‐ketoglutarate (α‐KG) yielding glutamate‐5‐semialdehyde (GSA) and glutamate. GSA is prone to cyclize to Δ1‐pyrroline‐5‐carboxylate.

In vivo hormonal induction of ornithine decarboxylase in rat kidney

open access: yes, 1976
Single pharmacological doses of parathyroid hormone, calcitonin, vasopressin, d-aldosterone, or L-triiodothyronine produced a significant increase in the ornithine decarboxylase activity of rat kidney.

Alcoholic extracts of Russian sage (Salvia yangii) contain bioactive terpenoids with inhibitory activity against grapevine downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Alcoholic extracts from flowers, leaves, and shoots of Russian sage decreased downy mildew severity on grapevine leaf disks. Fractionation followed by metabolomic analysis revealed putative terpenoids as the main components of the active fractions. Specifically, 7‐methylrosmanol, 12‐O‐methylcarnosic acid, carnosic acid, and carnosol were identified as ...

Sphinganine‐phosphate prevents influenza infection via promoting CD8+ T cells proliferation and activation

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
This study established clinical cohorts of respiratory viral infections and identified sphinganine‐phosphate (SA) as a metabolite significantly upregulated post‐infection through metabolomic analysis. In vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated that SA promotes the generation of effector CD8+ T cells via the SOCS1/JAK1/STAT1 pathway, which ...

Linking rhizosphere bacterial succession to metabolite dynamics unravels the underlying survival strategies of desert ephemeral plants

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Desert ephemerals complete rapid life cycles to survive aridity, yet the ontogenetic coordination of below‐ground rhizosphere interactions with above‐ground resource allocation remains unclear.
