Osteocalcin and Osteonectin Expression in Canine Osteosarcoma [PDF]
Osteosarcoma (OSA) is a malignant heterogeneous primary bone tumor responsible for up to 90% of all primary bone tumors in dogs. In this study, osteocalcin (OC) and osteonectin (ON) immunoreactivity was evaluated in 23 canine OSAs, 4 chondrosarcomas, 4 fibrosarcomas, 2 hemangiosarcomas, and 4 histiocytic sarcomas.

Expression of osteopontin and osteonectin in breast cancer [PDF]
Osteopontin (OP) and osteonectin (ON) are bone matrix proteins produced by mammary and other cancers. These proteins may play a role in tumor invasion and metastasis through integrin-mediated signal transduction. We evaluated expressions of OP and ON in 253 resected infiltrating ductal carcinoma of the breast, using immunohistochemical staining and ...

Cytokeratin - positive rib osteosarcoma metastasizing to the small intestine
Osteosarcoma (OS) is a malignant tumor in which osteoid or bone is produced directly by tumor cells. Some OS cells are positive for cytokeratin (CK) and epithelial membrane antigen by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and this may lead to a misdiagnosis of ...

miR-214 inhibits the osteogenic differentiation of dental follicle cells in vitro
Objective To investigate the effect of miR-214 on the osteogenic differentiation of dental follicle cells (DFCs). Methods Purified DFCs were cultured in vitro by bidirectional differential passage, with the untransfected DFCs as the control group (DFCs ...

Abstract Osteonectin, a major noncollagenous protein of bone, is also synthesized and secreted by various nonmineralized tissues and by platelets. To establish whether there are structural specificities of osteonectin according to its tissular origin, we raised 12 monoclonal antibodies against bovine bone osteonectin and screened them ...

Co-Targeting Prostate Cancer Epithelium and Bone Stroma by Human Osteonectin-Promoter-Mediated Suicide Gene Therapy Effectively Inhibits Androgen-Independent Prostate Cancer Growth. [PDF]
Stromal-epithelial interaction has been shown to promote local tumor growth and distant metastasis. We sought to create a promising gene therapy approach that co-targets cancer and its supporting stromal cells for combating castration-resistant prostate ...

Osteonectin in matrix remodeling. A plasminogen-osteonectin-collagen complex.
Osteonectin is an adhesive glycoprotein synthesized constitutively by osteoblasts, endothelial cells, and megakaryocytes. Bone-derived and platelet-derived osteonectins differ in their electrophoretic mobility and carbohydrate content, and each displays different affinities for collagen matrices.

Complex formation of human thrombospondin with osteonectin [PDF]
Human thrombospondin, a 450‐kDa glycoprotein isolated from platelets and endothelial cells, specifically interacts with osteonectin, a protein of 30 kDa isolated from bovine bones and human platelets. Using ELISA, purified osteonectin binds to solid‐phase‐adsorbed thrombospondin with a dissociation constant (Kd) of 0.7 nM.
