Immunolocalization of osteonectin in avian tibial dyschondroplastic cartilage [PDF]
Osteonectin is an acidic calcium-binding protein found in cartilage, bone matrix, vascular endothelium, and areas of tissue repair. Using immunocytochemistry, osteonectin has been localized in all zones of the normal avian epiphyseal growth plate with notably high amounts in the hypertrophic zone.

The profiling and analysis of gene expression in human periodontal ligament tissue and fibroblasts
Objectives The periodontal ligament (PDL) is an important component of periodontium to support dental structure in the alveolar socket. Regeneration of PDL tissue is an effective treatment option for periodontal disease and the profiling of genes ...

A human 3D bone niche integrating osteoblasts and osteoclasts enables co‐culture with prostate cancer cell lines and patient‐derived organoids. The engineered niche (i) models aspects of reciprocal phenotypic regulation between osteoblasts and cancer cells, (ii) captures osteoclast‐enhanced osteomimicry in tumor cells, and (iii) establishes a ...

Adipokine secretion from adipose tissue may be involved in obesity‐related asthma, but it is unknown how adipokine levels relate to asthma characteristics. Plasma adipokines were measured in well‐characterized lean, overweight or obese patients with mild‐to‐moderate or severe asthma.

Exploring the Role of Serum Osteonectin and Hsp27 in Pediatric MAFLD Diagnosis and Cardiometabolic Health. [PDF]
Background: Childhood obesity is one of the major challenges of public health policies. The problem of fatty liver in childhood, known as MAFLD (metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease), is of particular interest as the gold standard ...

Osteonectin (SPARC) Expression in Vascular Calcification : In Vitro and Ex Vivo Studies
Osteonectin, also termed SPARC, is a noncollagenous protein of bone matrix. Since there are controversial results regarding its role during the process of vascular calcification, we investigated osteonectin expression in our in vitro calcification model.

A guide to the types, structures, and multifaceted functions of matrix metalloproteinases in cancer
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) orchestrate cancer progression and metastasis through proteolytic and non‐proteolytic actions. By remodeling the tumor microenvironment, enhancing growth factor availability, and modulating cell behavior, MMPs promote proliferation, migration or invasion, and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition. Alongside extracellular

Trafficking of osteonectin by retinal pigment epithelial cells: Evidence for basolateral secretion
Osteonectin is a glycoprotein that modulates several aspects of cellular behaviour including proliferation and adhesion. The retinal pigment epithelium forms a continuous monolayer of polarised cells immediately bellow the neuroretina, and is integral to
