Single-shot multispectral quantitative phase imaging using deep neural network [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Multi-spectral quantitative phase imaging (MS-QPI) is a cutting-edge label-free technique to determine the morphological changes, refractive index variations and spectroscopic information of the specimens. The bottleneck to implement this technique to extract quantitative information, is the need of more than two measurements for generating MS-QPI ...

A UV-cured nanofibrous membrane of vinylbenzylated gelatin-poly(ε-caprolactone) dimethacrylate co-network by scalable free surface electrospinning [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Science and Engineering: C Mater. Sci. Eng. C 2018 (91) 541-555, 2018
Electrospun nanofibrous membranes of natural polymers, such as gelatin, are fundamental in the design of regenerative devices. Crosslinking of electrospun fibres from gelatin is required to prevent dissolution in water, to retain the original nanofibre morphology after immersion in water, and to improve the thermal and mechanical properties, although ...

Probiotic‐Based Mineralized Living Materials to Produce Antimicrobial Yogurts

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The self‐assembly and mineralization of collagen in the presence of probiotics produces hybrid living materials that hosts and protects the cells. Intra‐ and interfibrillar mineralization of collagen fibers, as occurring in bone, results, respectively, in a bulk and single‐cell protective layer of cells, that survive in simulated gastric conditions and,

In vitro cytocompatibility and antibacterial studies on biodegradable Zn alloys supplemented by a critical assessment of direct contact cytotoxicity assay

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, Volume 111, Issue 2, Page 241-260, February 2023., 2023
Abstract In vitro cytotoxicity assessment is indispensable in developing new biodegradable implant materials. Zn, which demonstrates an ideal corrosion rate between Mg‐ and Fe‐based alloys, has been reported to have excellent in vivo biocompatibility.

Solvent types used for the preparation of hydrogels determine their mechanical properties and influence cell viability through gelatine and calcium ions release

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, Volume 111, Issue 2, Page 314-330, February 2023., 2023
By the selection of the hydrogel composition, applied solvents, and concentration of the cross‐linking compound, it is possible to modify the properties of the materials designated for bioinks for 3D printing in Bone Tissue Engineering. Abstract Alginate‐gelatin hydrogels are the most commonly used materials for 3D bioprinting.

Long noncoding RNA OR3A4 promotes the proliferation and invasion of osteosarcoma cells by sponging miR-1227-5p

open access: yesJournal of Bone Oncology, 2020
Background: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been identified as key players in promoting tumourigenesis in osteosarcoma. LncRNA OR3A4 (OR3A4) has been reported as an oncogene in a number of tumours.

FGF2 Mediated USP42‐PPARγ Axis Activation Ameliorates Liver Oxidative Damage and Promotes Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
USP42 is identified as a novel DUB of PPARγ in hepatocytes. USP42 mediated PPARγ deubiquitylation determines its transcriptional preference on proliferative and redox balance genes. USP42 knockdown exacerbates liver damage and delays regeneration. FGF2 is the upstream signal that initiates and activates the USP42‐PPARγ axis.
