Incorporation of Selenium into Sol–Gel‐Derived Bioactive Glass: Influence on Glass Structure, Bioactivity, and its Selective Cytotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium was incorporated into a sol–gel‐derived bioactive glass to enable sustained therapeutic ion release. The selenium‐containing glass preserved bioactivity while selectively inducing cytotoxicity in osteosarcoma cells and maintaining osteoblastic viability.

TRAIP modulates the IGFBP3/AKT pathway to enhance the invasion and proliferation of osteosarcoma by promoting KANK1 degradation

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2021
Osteosarcoma is one of the most common primary malignancies in bones and is characterized by high metastatic rates. Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) derived from solid tumors can give rise to metastatic lesions, increasing the risk of death in patients ...

Aqueous Two‐Phase Bioinks for Discrete Packing and Compartmentalization of 3D Bioprinted Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Aqueous two‐phase systems (ATPS) enable the formation of biomimetic interfaces crucial for tissue engineering. However, clinical translation remains limited by the challenge of precisely controlling cellular compartmentalization. Here, we developed ATPS biomaterial inks for 3D bioprinting allowing tuneable droplet formation via NaCl modulation.

Triptolide inhibits the growth of osteosarcoma by regulating microRNA-181a via targeting PTEN gene in vivo and vitro

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
We aimed to study the anti-tumor effects of triptolide on osteosarcoma and the related molecular mechanisms. The cell viability, apoptosis portion, tumor size, tumor weight, and invasion of osteosarcoma cells were determined.

Engineering of Glioblastoma‐Derived Biomimetic Vesicles and Their Structural and Molecular Features

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biomimetic nanosystems and vesicles have arisen as a novel approach to design vesicular transport systems with diverse therapeutic potential. The ‘biomimetic’ strategy involves the integration of cell membrane components into lipid bilayers, conferring them with biological properties originating from the cell of origin. Until now, most studies

βig-h3 promotes human osteosarcoma cells metastasis by interacting with integrin α2β1 and activating PI3K signaling pathway.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Osteosarcoma, the most common primary bone tumor in children and young adolescents, is characterized by local invasion and distant metastasis. But the detailed mechanisms of osteosarcoma metastasis are not well known.

ONZIN Upregulation by Mutant p53 Contributes to Osteosarcoma Metastasis Through the CXCL5-MAPK Signaling Pathway

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2018
Background/Aims: Gain-of-function of mutant p53 is associated with a high rate of lung metastasis in osteosarcoma. To investigate the mechanism of mutant p53-induced osteosarcoma metastasis, expression array analysis was performed, comparing non ...

Extraskeletal osteosarcoma [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 1987
A retrospective study of 88 cases of extraskeletal osteosarcoma revealed that this tumor affects adults almost exclusively, with a high incidence in patients older than 50 years, and is slightly more common in males (58%) than in female patients. The tumor occurred principally as a soft tissue mass in an extremity, with a predilection for the thighs ...
