Lentiviral Overexpression of miRNAs

2013
Deregulation of microRNAs (miRNAs) has been attributed to almost any human disease analyzed to date. This calls for models and experimental strategies for functional analyses of miRNAs enabling miRNA overexpression or suppression in target cell and/or tissues.

HER2 overexpression and cancer targeting

Seminars in Oncology, 2001
Overexpression of the HER2/neu oncogene is a frequent molecular event in multiple human cancers including breast and ovarian cancer. Patients with breast cancer that overexpress HER2/neu have a poor prognosis, shorter relapse time, and low survival rate.

SFRP4 was overexpressed in colorectal carcinoma

Journal of Cancer Research and Clinical Oncology, 2009
Secreted frizzled related proteins (SFRPs) play important roles in tumor progress through antagonizing Wnt signaling. However, SFRPs has not been systematically studied in colorectal tumors. The primary purpose of the study was to discuss the relationship between the expression of SFRPs and the clinicopathologic features of colorectal cancer (CRC).The ...

LRP overexpression in monocytic lineage

Leukemia Research, 2003
The failure to chemotherapy is a multi factorial phenomenon and lung resistance protein (LRP) overexpression has already been discussed as implicated in drug resistance. But its role is still discussed. In 1996, we studied the expression of LRP and P170 (MDR) in a series of leukemias, at the time of diagnosis, by immunocytochemical (ICC) method.

Rationalizing membrane protein overexpression

Trends in Biotechnology, 2006
Functional and structural studies of membrane proteins usually require overexpression of the proteins in question. Often, however, the 'trial and error' approaches that are mainly used to produce membrane proteins are not successful. Our rapidly increasing understanding of membrane protein insertion, folding and degradation means that membrane protein ...

Nucleophosmin is overexpressed in thyroid tumors

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2010
Nucleophosmin (NPM) is a protein that contributes to several cell functions. Depending on the context, it can act as an oncogene or tumor suppressor. No data are available on NPM expression in thyroid cells. In this work, we analyzed both NPM mRNA and protein levels in a series of human thyroid tumor tissues and cell lines.

Overexpressing FSTL1 for Heart Repair

Trends in Molecular Medicine, 2016
Myocardial infarction (MI), a major cause of death worldwide, further impairs the inherently low regenerative capacity of cardiomyocytes, with barely 1% of cardiomyocytes per year undergoing cell division [1]. While this low division rate increases in response to MI, it does not compensate for the loss of cardiomyocytes; thus, the area of scarred ...

Overexpressing the most abundant enzyme

Nature Plants, 2018
Plants’ photosynthetic capacity at high light is limited by the kinetics of the slow, carbon-dioxide-fixing enzyme Rubisco. Increasing Rubisco content in a C4 crop plant is now shown to enhance photosynthesis and growth.

Cloning, overexpression, and characterization of cobrotoxin

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2004
Cobrotoxin (CBTX) is a highly toxic short neurotoxin, isolated from the Taiwan cobra (Naja naja atra) venom. In the present study for the first time we report the cloning and expression of CBTX in high yields (12mg/L) in Escherichia coli. CBTX fused to the IgG-binding domain of protein A (IgG-CBTX) was expressed in the soluble form.

Overexpression of osteopontin in hepatocellular carcinoma

Pathology International, 2002
Human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common and aggressive malignancies. In order to identify genes involved in HCC progression, we conducted a differential display analysis and found osteopontin (OPN) to be overexpressed in HCC. OPN is known to be a secreted adhesive glycoprotein, associated with tumorigenesis and metastasis in ...
