Oxadiazole isomers: all bioisosteres are not created equal
MedChemComm, 2012Two series of amino-substituted 1,2,4- and 1,3,4-oxadiazole matched compounds were evaluated and found to have significant differences in their various physical and pharmaceutical properties. Experimental and computational techniques suggested that variation in hydrogen bond acceptor and donor strength were responsible for these effects.

The new era of 1,2,4-oxadiazoles
Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, 2009The synthesis, the chemical and photochemical reactivity, and the use of 1,2,4-oxadiazoles in materials and as bioactive compounds have been reviewed. The material in this survey includes some historical background, general features, state-of-the-art applications together with a critical discussion about current limitations and suggestions for future ...

Oxadiazole-Triphenylamine derivatives for OLEDs
SPIE Proceedings, 2005Electroluminescent bipolar small molecules have been attracted with great interests recently. They are found to exhibit many interesting features such as (i) reducing the structural complexity of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) from multilayer heterojunction to monolayer homojunction devices; (ii) offering molecular p/n junction, and (iii ...

Banana-shaped 1,2,4-oxadiazoles
Pramana, 20033,5-Disubstituted 1,2,4-oxadiazoles are a new type of liquid crystalline (LC) compounds with asymmetrical five-membered heterocycle as a central unit. They have a bent shape and are very convenient model-compounds for studying the dependence of the LC properties on the molecular design.

Oxadiazole grafts in peptide macrocycles
Nature Chemistry, 2016Synthetic methods that provide control over macrocycle conformation and, at the same time, mitigate the polarity of peptide bonds represent valuable tools for the discovery of new bioactive molecules. Here, we report a macrocyclization reaction between a linear peptide, an aldehyde and (N-isocyanimino)triphenylphosphorane.
