Development of a polymer resin immobilized catalysts for the oxidative transformation of ethylbenzene

open access: yesMongolian Journal of Chemistry
New copper, manganese and vanadium based heterogeneous catalysts have been developed by the immobilization of pyridyl benzimidazole onto the polymer support.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Reactivity of Peroxidase-Derived Oxidants with Proteins, Glycoproteins and Proteoglycans

open access: yes, 2021
The heme peroxidase enzyme family is a major source of reactive oxidants in biological systems. Some of the species formed by these enzymes (e.g.

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

Antibodies Against Anti-Oxidant Enzymes in Autoimmune Glomerulonephritis and in Antibody-Mediated Graft Rejection

open access: yesAntioxidants
Historically, oxidants have been considered mechanisms of glomerulonephritis, but a direct cause–effect correlation has never been demonstrated. Several findings in the experimental model of autoimmune conditions with renal manifestations point to the up-

Effect of nonsurgical periodontal therapy on the level of salivary antioxidants in patients with generalized moderate-to-severe chronic periodontitis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Periodontology and Implant Dentistry, 2019
Background. In the course of periodontal diseases, polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) produce oxidative agents and free radicals, thus triggering oxidant-antioxidant disequilibrium in the saliva.

Characterization of Aluminized Layers on Inconel‐738 Alloy: Microstructure, Modeling of Aluminizing Kinetics, and Thermal Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explored how effective nickel aluminide coatings are obtained in providing oxidation resistance applied to the Inconel 738 alloy, modeling with diffusion models. In the present study, kinetics and thermal behavior of the Inconel 738 alloy were studied by the low‐temperature thermoreactive aluminizing process, which was carried out at 625°C ...

INTRACELLULAR THIOL TARGETS OF CHLORINATED OXIDANTS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The neutrophil oxidative burst during inflammation is a main source of oxidants in vivo. As a result of neutrophil activation, the inflammatory oxidants produced include H2O2 and chlorinated oxidants (HOCl and chloramines).

Functional replacement of oxygen by other oxidants in articular cartilage.

open access: yes, 2002
OBJECTIVE: Articular cartilage chondrocytes consume remarkably little O(2) in comparison with most other animal cells; glycolysis forms the principal source of ATP in this cartilage.

Chiral Nitroarenes as Enantioselective Single-Electron-Transfer Oxidants for Carbene-Catalyzed Radical Reactions

open access: yes, 2019
A new class of chiral oxidants is developed. These readily accessible oxidants contain a nitro group for oxidation and a chiral sulfonamide moiety for stereoselectivity control.
