Lutein and zeaxanthin reduce neuronal cell damage caused by lipid peroxidation
Oxidative stress and lipid peroxide levels in the brain increase with aging. The carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin have potent antioxidant properties and the ability to improve cognitive function.

TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

An Overview of the Effects of polyphenols on Cardiac Mitochondrial Function
Mitochondria plays a major role in maintaining homeostasis of heart cells. Mitochondria produce ATP and is the main intracellular source of reactive oxygen species (ROS) which can cause oxidative damage.

NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...
