Encapsulation of fish oil, a triglyceride rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, within a maillard reacted lecithin-dextrose matrix

open access: yesJournal of Agriculture and Food Research
The physicochemical properties and oxidative stability of encapsulated fish oil in a matrix formed by the reaction of crude de-oiled soy lecithin and dextrose following a Maillard reaction path were investigated.

Modelling of relative protection factor of antioxidants TBHQ, BHT and BHA in mixture with biodiesel

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Technology, 2018
Antioxidants are an alternative to prevent or retard the degradation of biofuels. In this study was utilized biodiesel obtained from the soybean oil transesterification, by methylic route, using sodium methoxide as catalyst.

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Chemical Composition and Oxidative Stability of Cucumis Melon and Cantaloupe Seed Oils [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering
Cantaloupe and Melon are members of the Cucumis family known as Cucumis melon. The oil content of cantaloupe and melon seeds was 39.45% and 30.09%, respectively. The percentage of saturated fatty acids in cantaloupe seed oil and melon seed oil was 18.67%

Thermal stability of nanostructurally stabilized zirconium oxide

open access: yesNanotechnology, 2007
Nanostructurally stabilized zirconium oxide (NSZ) hard transparent films were produced without chemical stabilizers by the ion beam assisted deposition technique (IBAD). A transmission electron microscopy study of the samples produced below 150 °C revealed that these films are composed of zirconium oxide (ZrO2) nanocrystallites of diameters 7.5 ± 2.3 ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Thermal stability of poly(oxyalkylene)amine-grafted polypropylene copolymers

open access: yes, 2014
The thermal and thermo-oxidative degradation of a family of amphiphilic copolymers consisting of a polypropylene (PP) backbone and several poly(oxyethylene) /poly(oxypropylene) (POE/POP) pendants were investigated by using a thermal gravimetric analysis (

Identifying Chemical and Genetic Factors Influencing Walnut Oxidative Stability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Walnut kernels are rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids. These confer numerous health benefits, but are readily oxidized, leading to the development of off-flavors.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in
