Wrapped NS5-branes, consistent truncations and Inönü-Wigner contractions
We construct consistent Kaluza-Klein truncations of type IIA supergravity on (i) Σ2 × S 3 and (ii) Σ3 × S 3, where Σ2 = S 2 /Γ, ℝ2 /Γ, or ℍ2 /Γ, and Σ3 = S 3 /Γ, ℝ3 /Γ, or ℍ3 /Γ, with Γ a discrete group of symmetries, corresponding to NS5-branes wrapped ...

We investigate possible existence of duality symmetries which exchange the Kaluza–Klein modes with the wrapping modes of a BPS saturated p-brane on a torus. Assuming the validity of the conjectured U-duality symmetries of type-II and heterotic string theories and M-theory, we show that for a BPS saturated p-brane there is an SL (2, Z) symmetry that ...

The different faces of branes in double field theory
We show how the Wess-Zumino terms of the different branes in string theory can be embedded within double field theory. Crucial ingredients in our construction are the identification of the correct brane charge tensors and the use of the double field ...

Gravitational lensing by p-branes [PDF]
The scattering of R-R gauge bosons off of Dirichlet p-branes is computed to leading order in the string coupling. The results are qualitatively similar to those found in the scattering of massless NS-NS bosons: all p-branes with p >= 0 exhibit stringy properties, in particular the Regge behavior. Both the R-R and NS-NS scattering amplitudes agree in

Five-brane actions in double field theory
We construct an action for NSNS 5-branes which is manifestly covariant under O(d, d). This is done by doubling d of the spacetime coordinates which appear in the worldvolume action.

Dual D-brane actions in nonrelativistic string theory
We study worldvolume actions for D-branes coupled to the worldvolume U(1) gauge field and Ramond-Ramond (RR) potentials in nonrelativistic string theory.

Ten dimensional type IIA and IIB theories with p-branes are compactified to 8-dimensions. It is shown that resulting branes can be classified according to the representations of $\bf {SL(3,Z) \times SL(2,Z)}$. These p-branes can also be obtained by compactification of M theory on three torus and various wrappings of membrane and five brane of the ...

(p,q)-strings probing five-brane webs
In recent work, globally well-defined Type IIB supergravity solutions with geometry AdS 6 × S 2 warped over a Riemann surface Σ were constructed and conjectured to describe the near-horizon geometry of (p, q) five-brane webs in the conformal limit.

Spinning solutions for the bosonic M2-brane with C ± fluxes
In this work we obtain classical solutions of the bosonic sector of the supermembrane theory with two-form fluxes associated to a quantized constant C ± background. This theory satisfies a flux condition on the worldvolume that induces monopoles over it.
