Raw citrus by‐product valorization: unlocking the potential of biotransformation by Talaromyces amestolkiae to obtain cellulolytic enzymes and natural colorants

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Agro‐industrial by‐products can be used as valuable nutrient sources for the sustainable production of high‐value‐added compounds. The goal of this study was utilize raw citrus industrial by‐product (RCB) as a carbon source for the simultaneous production of red colorants and enzymes by the filamentous fungus Talaromyces amestolkiae under lab ...

Wrapping rules (in) string theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
In this paper we show that the number of all 1/2-BPS branes in string theory compactified on a torus can be derived by universal wrapping rules whose formulation we present.

Effect of Nitrogen Treatment on the Physico‐Chemical and Functional Properties Intermediate Wheatgrass (Thinopyrum intermedium) Grown in Different Locations

open access: yesCereal Chemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Intermediate wheatgrass (IWG), a new perennial crop, is being explored for food applications; however, nitrogen application effects on its properties have not been investigated. This study evaluated the effects of applying 90 kg ha−1 of nitrogen in spring or fall seasons on the properties of IWG grown in Minnesota and

Complete intersecting non-extreme p-branes

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2004
We give general intersecting brane solutions without assuming any restriction on the metric in supergravity coupled to a dilaton and antisymmetric tensor fields in arbitrary dimensions $D$. The result is a general class of intersecting brane solutions which interpolate the non-extreme solutions of type 1 and 2.

From Waste to Plant‐Based Protein: Impact of Solid‐State Fermentation on Functionality and Protein Extraction of Cassava Leaves

open access: yesCereal Chemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Cassava leaves represent a significant waste stream in cassava cultivation, currently underutilized in both food and nonfood applications. This study investigates the use of solid‐state fermentation with Aspergillus oryzae, Lactobacillus plantarum, and Bacillus subtilis to modify the composition and functional ...

Integrated and closed‐loop biorefinery strategies for efficient waste valorization and biofuel production

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Advancements in biofuel production technologies are essential for reducing global dependence on fossil fuels and addressing their overexploitation. Many valuable components of biomass, such as cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, remain underused in traditional biorefineries, which typically rely on a single feedstock to produce a primary ...

A story of non-conformal branes: spindles, disks, circles and black holes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We consider the (p + 2)-dimensional gauged supergravities arising as a consistent truncation of type II on S 8−p , which are associated with the near-horizon limit of Dp-branes, for p = 2, 4, 5, 6 (and NS5-branes for p = 5).

Non-Lorentzian theories with and without constraints

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
We exhibit a new method of constructing non-Lorentzian models by applying a method we refer to as starting from a so-called seed Lagrangian. This method typically produces additional constraints in the system that can drastically alter the physical ...
