GAUGING OF CHERN-SIMONS p-BRANES [PDF]
The Chern-Simons membranes and in general the Chern-Simons p-branes moving in D-dimensional target space admit an infinite set of secondary constraints. With respect to the Poisson bracket these constraints form a closed algebra which contains the classical W1+∞ algebra in p dimensions as a subalgebra.

In the quest for the mathematical formulation of M-theory, we consider three major open problems: a first-principles construction of the single (abelian) M5-brane Lagrangian density, the origin of the gauge field in heterotic M-theory, and the ...

Brane annihilation in non-supersymmetric strings
In this paper we study non-perturbative instabilities in Anti-de Sitter vacua arising from flux compactifications of string models with broken supersymmetry.

Entanglement entropy for open bosonic strings on Dp-branes
We study the entanglement entropy for open bosonic strings on multiple Dp-branes by using the covariant open string field theory. Choosing one of the spatial coordinates which are tangential to the hyperplane on which Dp-branes are located, we divide the

Black p-branes in heterotic string theory
Heterotic string theory has nonsupersymmetric branes whose existence is suggested by the cobordism conjecture. We numerically construct static, spherically symmetric, and asymptotically flat black brane solutions in ten-dimensional heterotic superstring ...

On actions for (entangling) surfaces and DCFTs
The dynamics of surfaces and interfaces describe many physical systems, including fluid membranes, entanglement entropy and the coupling of defects to quantum field theories.

Monopoles, Dirac strings and generalised symmetries
Dirac’s formulation of magnetic monopoles is shown to be equivalent to Maxwell theory coupled to 2-form gauge fields so that it has a local 1-form symmetry, with the 2-form gauge fields given in terms of the 2-form current densities associated with the ...
