Multiplexed Transcriptomics for Screening Drug Combinations and Defining the Mechanism of Action of HCC Therapeutics at Single‐Cell Resolution

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
We designed a framework for screening clinical drug combinations with anti‐hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) activity, comprising four parts: primary screening, single‐cell screening, functional validation, and mechanism research. High‐throughput single‐cell screening identifies HY (HHT and YM155) as a potent anti‐HCC drug combination, validated by in ...

Cellular Signalling Networks in High Altitude Pulmonary Hypertension: From Canonical Pathways to Emerging Targets

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
This review elucidates the intricate cellular signalling networks involved in high‐altitude pulmonary hypertension (HAPH), integrating canonical pathways like HIF, MAPK and BMP with emerging targets such as Wnt/β‐catenin, Notch, Hippo‐YAP and IL‐6. It highlights potential therapeutic strategies targeting these pathways to mitigate vascular remodelling ...

Prevalence of new‐onset diabetes following COVID‐19 infection: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract Aim To estimate the prevalence of new‐onset diabetes in adults (≥ 18 years) following SARS‐CoV‐2 infection. Materials and Methods This meta‐analysis includes studies written in English that measured the number of adults (≥ 18 years) diagnosed with diabetes following SARS‐CoV‐2 infection.

Newly identified properties of known pharmaceuticals and myxobacterial small molecules revealed by screening for autophagy modulators

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Autophagy is a cellular degradation process involved in, for example, immune responses to pathogens and neurodegeneration. To identify modulators of autophagy, we developed a microscopy‐based screening assay and identified previously unknown autophagy‐modulating activities in known drugs and natural products from myxobacteria and fungi.

Differential regulation of translational stress responses by herpesvirus ubiquitin deconjugases

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Translating viral mRNAs is challenging due to structural features that may slow translation or induce ribosome stalling. The viral ubiquitin deconjugases encoded by human pathogenic herpesviruses regulate the cellular response to ribosomal stress by inhibiting various branches of the Ribosomal Quality Control (RQC) and activating Ribosomal Stress ...
