Small molecule induced reactivation of mutant p53 in cancer cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The p53 cancer mutant Y220C is an excellent paradigm for rescuing the function of conformationally unstable p53 mutants because it has a unique surface crevice that can be targeted by small-molecule stabilizers.

rap1 p21 regulates the interaction of ras p21 with RGL, a new effector protein of ras p21 [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1995
We have recently found that ralGDS family members (RGL and ralGDS) are putative effector proteins of ras p21. rap1 p21 is a small GTP‐binding protein which has the same amino acid sequence as the effector loop of ras p21. We examined the effect of rap1 p21 on the interaction of ras p21 with RGL.

Kinetic and Structural Analysis of the Mg2+ -binding Site of the Guanine Nucleotide-binding Protein p21 H-ras. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The coordination and binding of the Mg2+ ion in the nucleotide−binding site of p21 have been investigated using site−directed mutagenesis, kinetic methods, and phosphorous NMR.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Canine Mammary Tumor Cell Lines Derived from Metastatic Foci Show Increased RAD51 Expression but Diminished Radioresistance via p21 Inhibition

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences, 2022
Due to the high incidence of mammary tumors in dogs, it is important to elucidate the pathogenesis of these tumors in veterinary medicine. Radiation therapy is often used to treat mammary tumors that target DNA lesions.

Two-photon decay of the neutral pion in lattice QCD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We perform non-perturbative calculation of the \pi^0 to {\gamma}{\gamma} transition form factor and the associated decay width using lattice QCD. The amplitude for two-photon final state, which is not an eigenstate of QCD, is extracted through an ...

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Cardiomyocyte Proliferative Capacity Is Restricted in Mice With Lmna Mutation

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2021
LMNA is one of the leading causative genes of genetically inherited dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Unlike most DCM-causative genes, which encode sarcomeric or sarcomere-related proteins, LMNA encodes nuclear envelope proteins, lamin A and C, and does not ...

Eicosapentaenoic acid induces DNA demethylation in carcinoma cells through a TET1-dependent mechanism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In cancer cells, global genomic hypomethylation is found together with localized hypermethylation of CpG islands within the promoters and regulatory regions of silenced tumor suppressor genes.
