Complex Systems Analysis of Arrested Neural Cell Differentiation during Development and Analogous Cell Cycling Models in Carcinogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A new approach to the modular, complex systems analysis of nonlinear dynamics of arrested neural cell Differentiation--induced cell proliferation during organismic development and the analogous cell cycling network transformations involved in ...

Possible Charge-Exchange X-Ray Emission in the Cygnus Loop Detected with Suzaku [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
X-ray spectroscopic measurements of the Cygnus Loop supernova remnant indicate that metal abundances throughout most of the remnant's rim are depleted to about 0.2 times the solar value.

Chemical genetics approach to restoring p27Kip1 reveals novel compounds with antiproliferative activity in prostate cancer cells

open access: yesBMC Biology, 2010
Background The cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) inhibitor p27Kip1 is downregulated in a majority of human cancers due to ectopic proteolysis by the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway.

EpoR Activation Stimulates Erythroid Precursor Proliferation by Inducing Phosphorylation of Tyrosine-88 of the CDK-Inhibitor p27Kip1

open access: yesCells, 2023
Erythrocyte biogenesis needs to be tightly regulated to secure oxygen transport and control plasma viscosity. The cytokine erythropoietin (Epo) governs erythropoiesis by promoting cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival of erythroid precursor ...

Electrochemical Hofmann Rearrangement for Modular Synthesis of Unsymmetrical Ureas and Late‐Stage Modification of Drugs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An electrochemical Hofmann rearrangement of amide involving amine or other amide nucleophiles has been developed. The use of NaI guarantees the feasibility and compatibility of the electrosynthesis protocol, which enables highly chemoselective synthesis of unsymmetrical N‐acylureas from two different amides, as well as the production of unsymmetrical ...

Prognostic implication of p27Kip1, Skp2 and Cks1 expression in renal cell carcinoma: a tissue microarray study

open access: yesJournal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research, 2008
Background p27Kip1 plays a major role as a negative regulator of the cell cycle. The regulation of p27Kip1 degradation is mediated by its specific ubiquitin ligase subunits S-phase kinase protein (Skp) 2 and cyclin-dependent kinase subunit (Cks) 1 ...

SETD1A Regulates Glycolysis and Senescence of Nucleus Pulposus Cells via H3K4me3–HELZ2/PPARα‐HIF1α Axis to Drive Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SETD1A is a key epigenetic regulator in NPCs during IDD. In normal NPCs, it sustains H3K4me3–HELZ2/PPARα–HIF1α signaling to maintain glycolytic energy metabolism and proliferation. In degenerated NPCs, reduced SETD1A disrupts this axis, impairing glycolysis and accelerating senescence, highlighting a promising therapeutic target for IDD.

Use of water from small alluvial aquifers for irrigation in semi-arid regions. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Water from small alluvial aquifers constitutes an attractive and low-cost option for irrigation and rural development in Northeastern Brazil. Based on piezometric measurements, geochemical analyses and electrical conductivity estimates, the present case ...

Longitudinal Phenotypic Trajectories in GNAO1‐Related Disorders: Defining Disease Progression and Clinical Profiles

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Pathogenic variants in GNAO1 cause a spectrum of epilepsy, movement disorders, and developmental impairment. Clinical heterogeneity complicates prognosis and therapeutic development. We present the first longitudinal natural history study of GNAO1‐related disorders (GNAO1‐RD) to delineate phenotypic trajectories. Methods Sixty‐six individuals

Doxycycline Regulated Induction of AKT in Murine Prostate Drives Proliferation Independently of p27 Cyclin Dependent Kinase Inhibitor Downregulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The PI3 kinase/AKT pathway has been shown to increase degradation of the p27 cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor through phosphorylation of consensus AKT sites on p27 and SKP2, and AKT driven proliferation may be checked by feedback mechanisms that ...
