Expression of the mdr (P-glycoprotein) gene in Chinese hamster digestive tracts.
Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 1988P-glycoprotein has been shown to be responsible for multidrug resistance in mammalian cells. However, its physiological roles in normal cells are not known. The gene encoding this protein has been shown to express at a relatively high level in human digestive tracts. In the present study, in situ hybridizations were employed to determine the expression

[Role of substance P in the nervous system control of digestive motility].
Archives internationales de physiologie, de biochimie et de biophysique, 1992Substance P is a 11 amino-acids peptide which belongs to the tachykinins, a family of peptide which induces a rapid contraction of the smooth muscle of the digestive tract. The occurrence of substance P has been demonstrated by immunohistochemical and radioimmunological techniques in most parts of the central and peripheral nervous system.
