Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

On dynamic delay and repeater insertion in distributed capacitively coupled interconnects. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Repeater insertion is a well established technique to minimise the propagation delay over long resistive interconnects. In deep sub-micron technologies, as the wires are spaced ever closer and signal rise and fall times go into the sub-nanosecond region,

Fluorescence Signal from Packaging Complexes

open access: yes, 2013
The graphs show the fluorescence intensity of vertical (black) and horizontal (red) polarization detected simultaneously. One example for each of the six investigated mutants is shown.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

DETECTION OF MELAMINE IN PACKAGING MATERIALS USING TERAHERTZ TIME-DOMAIN SPECTROSCOPY

open access: yesQuímica Nova
To detect melamine in packaging materials, terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) was employed to measure the terahertz absorption spectra of melamine-polyethylene mixtures with varying mass ratios (1:0-3).

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

A tail-like assembly at the portal vertex in intact herpes simplex type-1 virions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Herpes viruses are prevalent and well characterized human pathogens. Despite extensive study, much remains to be learned about the structure of the genome packaging and release machinery in the capsids of these large and complex double-stranded DNA ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...
