Preliminary studies on the vitrification of red sea bream (Pagrus major) embryos

Theriogenology, 2007
The objective was to identify an appropriate cryoprotectant and protocol for vitrification of red sea bream (Pagrus major) embryos. The toxicity of five single-agent cryoprotectants, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), propylene glycol (PG), ethylene glycol (EG), glycerol (GLY), and methyl alcohol (MeOH), as well as nine cryoprotectant mixtures, were ...

Dietary arginine requirement of juvenile red sea bream Pagrus major

Aquaculture, 2014
Abstract A 9-week feeding trial was carried out to evaluate dietary arginine requirement of juvenile red sea bream. Six isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets (50% crude protein and 17.7 kJ g− 1 gross energy) were formulated to contain graded levels of arginine including 1.42, 1.88, 2.22, 2.54, 3.08 and 3.43% of diet (2.84–6.86% of dietary protein), and

Organization of the lipoprotein lipase gene of red sea bream Pagrus major

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2002
Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is a key enzyme of lipid deposition and metabolism. To investigate the mechanism of lipid deposition in fish, as a first step, we have characterized the LPL gene of a marine teleost red sea bream Pagrus major by cDNA and genomic structure analysis.

Effect of cryoprotectants on hatching rate of red seabream (Pagrus major) embryos

Theriogenology, 2008
The objectives were to investigate the effect of cryoprotectants on the hatching rate of red seabream embryos. Heart-beat embryos were immersed in: five permeable cryoprotectants, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), glycerol (Gly), methanol (MeOH), 1,2-propylene glycol (PG), and ethylene glycol (EG), in concentrations of 5-30% for 10, 30, or 60 min; and two non-

Kinetic Analysis of a Chitinase from Red Sea Bream,Pagrus major

Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2004
Kinetic analysis was done on the 46-kDa chitinase (EC 3.2.1.14) purified from the stomach of red sea bream, Pagrus major, using glycolchitin and N-acetylchitooligosaccharides (GlcNAc(n), n=2-6) as substrates. High activity was observed at two pHs, such as 2.5 and 9.0, toward glycolchitin as seen in other insect chitinases, and also at both pH 2.5 and 5.

Red sea bream, Pagrus major .

2002
The red sea bream, Madai in Japanesex, is one of the most popular fish species in Japanese aquaculture due to its economic feasibility and traditional food habits. The aquaculture production of red sea bream (Pagrus major) is the second largest in Japan, following the yellowtail (Seriola quinqueradiata).

Ontogeny of respiratory area of a marine teleost, porgy, pagrus major

Ichthyological Research, 1999
Relationships of respiratory areas (gill, body surface and fin areas) (A) to body mass (W) were determined with a marine teleost, the porgyPagrus major of 0.0002–1230 g (just after hatch to 3+ years old), based on the allometric formula A=αWβ. (1) Early larvae (0.0002–0.0003 g) did not have the secondary lamellae that were responsible for gas exchange ...

Bacterial Pathogens in Cultured Red Progy (Pagrus pagrus) and Common Seabream (Pagrus major)

2018

Production of cloned red sea bream, Pagrus major, by chromosome manipulation

Aquaculture, 2002
Red sea bream, Pagrus major, is one of the most important fish cultured in Japan. Two clones of red sea bream were produced. Eggs from a mitotic gynogenetic diploid (mitotic-G2N) red sea bream were inseminated either with sperm from a mitotic-G2N male to produce a heterozygous clone (hetero-clone), or with UV-irradiated sperm of Japanese parrot fish ...

Behavioral modeling of Pagrus major in the East Seto Inland Sea

Journal of Marine Science and Technology, 2013
Evaluation of the behaviors of fish that belong to higher levels of the food web is important from the viewpoint of resource management and other environmental issues. Especially for adult fish that can swim against the surrounding currents, it is quite important to consider migration effects when modeling fish behavior.
