Sensory Evaluation of Hearts of Palm
Journal of Food Science, 1993ABSTRACT Hearts of palm were evaluated for their sensory properties using descriptive analysis and consumer appeal using consumer acceptance tests. Four varieties of canned product, two from wild species and 2 from cultivated species and 1 fresh cultivated variety were evaluated.

The Planter, 2001For the purpose of crop diversification and food production, a study has been carried out to determine the feasibility of growing peach palm (Bactris gasipaes Kunth) for palm heart production. A total of 160 peach palm seedlings were planted at density 1 111 plants per hectare.

Human Ecology, 1995Many of the processed palm hearts consumed throughout the world are derived from the acaipalm (Euterpe oleraceaMart.)), which grows abundantly in floodplain forests of the Amazon estuary. Palm heart extraction began in the estuary in the 1970s and there are now hundreds of canning factories and some 50 distribution firms in this region.
