Inhibition of recombinant human carboxylesterase 1 and 2 and monoacylglycerol lipase by chlorpyrifos oxon, paraoxon and methyl paraoxon [PDF]

open access: yesToxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 2012
Oxons are the bioactivated metabolites of organophosphorus insecticides formed via cytochrome P450 monooxygenase-catalyzed desulfuration of the parent compound. Oxons react covalently with the active site serine residue of serine hydrolases, thereby inactivating the enzyme.

Agonists of CB1 and NMDA receptors decrease the toxic effect of organophosphorus compound paraoxon on PC12 cells [PDF]

open access: yesThe Ukrainian Biochemical Journal, 2019
Pharmacological studies allow to suggest that activation of cannabinoid type 1 receptors (CB1) have a neuroprotective role against toxicity induced by organophosphate agents, but the exact mechanisms of this effect as well as interaction with receptors ...

Catalytic Amyloids: Turning Fibrils Into Biocatalysts

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 10, 9 March 2026.
Amyloids, traditionally associated with diseases, have emerged as versatile catalytic scaffolds. From natural amyloid sequences to bioinspired and de novo designs, we highlight strategies to construct catalytic active sites and anchor enzymes onto fibrils, creating versatile nanomaterials with tunable activities. ABSTRACT Amyloids have been regarded as

Effects of high sucrose diet, gemfibrozil, and their combination on plasma paraoxonase 1 activity and lipid levels in rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We investigated the influence of high sucrose diet (HSD) after 3 or 5 weeks of administration on paraoxonase 1 (PON1) activity in plasma of normolipidemic rats and the relationship between serum PON1 activity, triacylglycerides (TGs), HDL and total ...

Critical role of neutral cholesteryl ester hydrolase 1 in cholesteryl ester hydrolysis in murine macrophages[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2014
Hydrolysis of intracellular cholesteryl ester (CE) is the rate-limiting step in the efflux of cholesterol from macrophage foam cells. In mouse peritoneal macrophages (MPMs), this process is thought to involve several enzymes: hormone-sensitive lipase ...

Real‐time quality and safety monitoring of fruit juice using paper‐based platform

open access: yesFood Biomacromolecules, Volume 3, Issue 1, Page 140-162, March 2026.
Schematic illustration of a paper‐based biosensor for rapid detection of fruit juice spoilage. Abstract Food spoilage and safety concerns still remain critically challenging within the fruit juice industry, especially as conventional detection methods, though precise, are often too time‐consuming, costly, and reliant on centralized laboratories.

Purification and characterization of paraoxon hydrolase from rat liver [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1997
Paraoxonase (paraoxon hydrolase), an enzyme that hydrolyses paraoxon (O,O-diethyl O-p-nitrophenyl phosphate), is located in mammals primarily in the serum and liver. Although considerable information is available regarding serum paraoxonase, little is known about the hepatic form of this enzyme.
