QM/MM Description of Newly Selected Catalytic Bioscavengers Against Organophosphorus Compounds Revealed Reactivation Stimulus Mediated by Histidine Residue in the Acyl-Binding Loop

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2018
Butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) is considered as an efficient stoichiometric antidote against organophosphorus (OP) poisons. Recently we utilized combination of calculations and ultrahigh-throughput screening (uHTS) to select BChE variants capable of ...

Organophosphorus pesticides decrease M2 muscarinic receptor function in guinea pig airway nerves via indirect mechanisms. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
Epidemiological studies link organophosphorus pesticide (OP) exposures to asthma, and we have shown that the OPs chlorpyrifos, diazinon and parathion cause airway hyperreactivity in guinea pigs 24 hr after a single subcutaneous injection.

Durable Physically Mixed Microporous and Mesoporous MOFs/Nanofiber Aerogel 3D Composites for Effective Toxic Gas Capture and Organophosphonate Detoxification

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 13, 12 February 2026.
Ultralight 3D nanofibrous aerogels embedded with metal‐organic frameworks effectively capture and neutralize toxic gases and organophosphonates. Incorporating mesoporous UiO‐66‐NH2 and HKUST‐1 into PAN/PVP fibers enables high MOF loading while maintaining mechanical strength and structural stability.

Effect of Paraoxon on the Oxidative Stress Indices and Lactate Dehydrogenase Activity in Rat Liver

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Bābul, 2012
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Paraoxon (active metabolite of parathion) is one of the most toxic organophosphate (OP) compounds. Acetyl cholinesterase inhibition is the main acute toxic mechanisms of OPs.

Enhanced Recognition via Defect Engineered Amorphous Metal–Organic Framework for Sensitive and Stable Pesticide Biosensor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 7, 3 February 2026.
A defect‐engineered assembly strategy is reported for the in situ encapsulation of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) into amorphous MOF‐74, endowing the composite with superior catalytic activity and target recognition capability. Leveraging these structural advantages, a sensitive and stable biosensor is constructed for the detection of paraoxon pesticide ...
