Tunable mass separation via negative mobility
A prerequisite for isolating diseased cells requires a mechanism for effective mass-based separation. This objective, however, is generally rather challenging because typically no valid correlation exists between the size of the particles and their mass ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Putting hydrodynamic interactions to work: tagged particle separation
Separation of magnetically tagged cells is performed by attaching markers to a subset of cells in suspension and applying fields to pull from them in a variety of ways.

Modeling the gas-particle partitioning of secondary organic aerosol: the importance of liquid-liquid phase separation [PDF]
The partitioning of semivolatile organic compounds between the gas phase and aerosol particles is an important source of secondary organic aerosol (SOA).

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Experimental Investigation and Numerical Simulation of Aerodynamic Characteristics and Separation Efficiency of an Inertial Particle Separator at Low Altitudes [PDF]
The low-altitude airspace plays a vital role in supporting economic development; however, the downwash airflow generated by low-altitude aircraft can entrain ground particles into the engine, posing significant risks to flight safety and operational ...

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Quantum Correlations in Two-Particle Anderson Localization
We predict the quantum correlations between non-interacting particles evolving simultaneously in a disordered medium. While the particle density follows the single-particle dynamics and exhibits Anderson localization, the two-particle correlation ...
