PAX9 gene mutations and tooth agenesis: A review
Clinical Genetics, 2017Paired box 9 (PAX9) is one of the best‐known transcription factors involved in the development of human dentition. Mutations in PAX9 gene could, therefore, seriously influence the number, position and morphology of the teeth in an affected individual. To date, over 50 mutations in the gene have been reported as associated with various types of dental ...

Novel missense mutation in PAX9 gene associated with familial tooth agenesis
Journal of Oral Pathology and Medicine, 2013PAX9 is a transcription factor deeply involved in the gene networks that regulate odontogenesis. To date, only a restricted number of mutations in this gene have been associated with non‐syndromic tooth agenesis. Six families segregating non‐syndromic oligodontia/hypodontia were screened for mutations in PAX9 gene.

Interaction between HCMV infection and PAX9 gene polymorphisms in low birth weight infants
Journal of Maternal-Fetal and Neonatal Medicine, 2016To investigate the interaction between human cytomegalovirus infection and PAX9 gene polymorphisms in low birth weight (LBW) infants.Nested-PCR was used to detect human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection and restriction fragment length polymorphism PCR (RFLP-PCR) was then used to detect polymorphisms at rs2073244 and rs4904210 on the PAX9 gene in 65 HCMV-

Characterization of a novel mutation in PAX9 gene in a family with non-syndromic dental agenesis.
Archives of Oral Biology, 2016Dental agenesis is the most common developmental anomaly in man and may present either as an isolated trait or as part of a syndrome, such as ectodermal dysplasia. Until now, the underlying molecular pathogenic mechanisms responsible for dental agenesis are still largely unknown. Several genetic and molecular studies have demonstrated that at least 300
