Small Hepatoid Variant of Solid Pseudopapillary Neoplasm of the Pancreas: A Unique Case With Long‐term Follow‐up

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Hepatoid tumors are rare neoplasms that arise outside the liver but exhibit morphological and immunophenotypic features resembling hepatocellular carcinoma. Although hepatoid differentiation sometimes occurs in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, its occurrence in solid pseudopapillary neoplasm (SPN) is exceedingly rare.

Malassezia und PDAC

open access: yes
Basidiomycete yeasts of the genus Malassezia occur as commensals on the skin and mucous membranes of humans and warm-blooded animals. Some of the associated species are associated with the occurrence of certain skin diseases and systemic infections. The genus comprises 18 species and has an unusual, lipid-rich envelope.

Impaired Adipose Anabolism in Pancreatic Cancer Cachexia Is Reversed by HuR Inhibition

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Cachexia is defined by chronic loss of fat and muscle, is a frequent complication of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and negatively impacts patient outcomes. Nutritional supplementation cannot fully reverse tissue wasting, and the mechanisms underlying this phenotype are unclear.

NDUFS1‐Mediated Mitochondrial Complex I Activity Maintains Pancreatic Cancer Stemness by Promoting PAX2 Hypomethylation

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
Pancreatic cancer stem cells (CSCs) maintain stemness and tumorigenicity through NDUFS1‐mediated complex I activity, which is transcriptionally upregulated via the CD147‐STAT3 signaling axis. Enhanced oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) and NAD+ production driven by this CD147‐NDUFS1 axis subsequently trigger the SIRT1‐DNMT1 metaboloepigenetic signaling

NR3C1, LAX1, and RCAN3 as Circulating Epigenetic Biomarkers for Prognosis and Chemotherapy Response Prediction in Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
Clinical utility of liquid biopsy‐based epigenetic profiling in PDAC management. Aberrant methylation of LAX1, RCAN3, and NR3C1 was identified in cfDNA from mPDAC patients, highlighting their potential as non‐invasive epigenetic biomarkers. Methylation levels of these genes showed prognostic value, supporting their relevance for patient stratification ...

Enhancing Oncolytic Adenovirus Replication by Early Region 1A Protein‐Mediated Degradation of E1A Binding Protein p300

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
E1A is an important protein for adenovirus to initiate viral replication. Previous reports have shown that E1A binds to p300 as a regulatory factor. However, our study provides a new perspective that E1A promotes oncolytic adenovirus replication by degrading p300.
