Insecticide and Acaricide Tests, 1987Abstract Twenty-year-old pear trees were sprayed with handguns operating at 600 psi to evaluate Avid for seasonal control of PP. Populations were monitored at 2-week intervals by adult and nymph counts. PP adults were counted by the limb tap method (25 taps/plot), PP nymphs and PRM from brushed leaf samples (56 leaves/plot).

Pear species belong to the genus Pyrus in the subfamily Maloideae of the family Rosaceae. This genus is considered to have originated in the mountainous regions of western and southwestern China during the Tertiary period and spread into the east and west.
