Alteration of Acid‐Binding Capacity of Various Nursery Pig Diets and Its Influence on Properties of Digesta Along the Gastrointestinal Tract

open access: yesJournal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, Volume 110, Issue 5, Page 806-812, September 2026.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of reduced dietary acid‐binding capacity (ABC) by acidifiers on the properties of digesta along the gastrointestinal tract of pigs. In Exp. 1, 144 pigs at 21 d of age [6.5 ± 0.9 kg body weight (BW)] were housed in pens (3 pigs/pen). In Exp.

Crystal Structure of Human Pepsinogen A [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section A Foundations of Crystallography, 1996
Human pepsinogen A is the inactive protein precursor of pepsin, an aspartic proteinase found in the stomach. Pepsinogen is synthesized in the chief cells and secreted into the gastric lumen. After pepsinogen has been exposed to the acidic pH of the stomach, a 47 amino acid, N-terminal prosegment is removed by autolytic cleavage to form the active ...

Dissociation of gastric acid and pepsinogen secretion in response to mercaptomethylimidazole - a new secretory compound

open access: yes, 1990
Mercaptomethylimidazole (MMI), a potent antithyroid drug of the thionamide group, induces both acid and pepsinogen secretion independently in control and pylorus ligated mice.

Detection of pepsinogen and Helicobacter pylori in preschool age children with secretory otitis media

open access: yesAl-Azhar Assiut Medical Journal, 2018
Background Otitis media with effusion (OME) is a common disease among preschool children. However, its pathophysiology is not well known, and gastroesophageal reflux diseases were proposed to play a role.

A Review of Breath Sensing for Disease Monitoring and Diagnosis: Breathomics, Artificial Intelligence, and Nanomaterials for the Future of Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, Volume 5, Issue 7, July 2026.
Breathomics is established as a non‐invasive diagnostic strategy by combining volatile organic compound biomarkers, nanomaterial‐based sensor arrays, and AI‐driven classification. Key diseases, sensing materials, and analytical challenges are critically compared, revealing how portable, data‐enabled breath platforms are moving toward clinically useful ...

Carbamylation of Pepsinogen and Pepsin

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1968
Abstract 1. Potassium cyanate, a reagent that carbamylates proteins, reacts both with pepsinogen and pepsin. 2. When allowed to react with pepsinogen, nine of the 10 e-NH2 groups of the lysine residues are carbamylated and homocitrulline is formed. In addition, reaction occurs with 4 tyrosine residues but not with the α-NH2-terminal leucine.

Diagnostic Accuracy of Serum Antibody, Urine Antibody, and Stool Antigen Tests for Helicobacter pylori in Japan: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesHelicobacter, Volume 31, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Non‐invasive Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) tests are widely used in clinical practice in Japan; however, their diagnostic accuracy may vary with the composition of the target population, and no systematic review has synthesized their performance specifically in Japanese populations.
