We aimed to determine the diagnostic value of anti-parietal cell antibodies (anti-PCA), anti-intrinsic factor antibodies (anti-IFA), pepsinogen ratio (PGI/II), and gastrin-17 (G-17) in corpus-restricted atrophic gastritis (CRAG) detected by ELISA (Inova,

Radioimmunoassay of Human Pepsinogen A and Pepsinogen C [PDF]
We describe the development of radioimmunoassays to measure both human pepsinogen A and pepsinogen C concentrations in serum. The antibodies were raised in goats by immunization with purified pepsinogen A or C. The affinity constants of the respective antibodies were 20.10(10) l/mol and 7.10(10) l/mol.

SERUM PEPSINOGEN I AND PEPSINOGEN II AS NON-INVASIVE BIOMARKERS FOR THE DIAGNOSIS OF CHRONIC ATROPHIC GASTRITIS [PDF]
Atrophic gastritis, intestinal metaplasia and dysplasia of the gastric mucosa are major risk factors for the development of an intestinal type of gastric cancer.

Seroprevalence of Helicobacter pylori/CagA Antibodies in Guatemalan Gastric Cancer Patients: Association of Seropositivity with Increased Plasma Levels of Pepsinogens but not Soluble Urokinase Plasminogen Activator Receptor [PDF]
Infection by Helicobacter pylori is a major risk factor for gastric cancer (GC), the second leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Although biomarkers such as pepsinogens (PGs) and soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) may ...

Evidence relating to the structure and properties of swine pepsinogen and pepsin has been reviewed and used to suggest a tentative two dimensional picture of the skeleton of these two proteins. When pepsinogen, a folded single peptide chain, is converted to pepsin, there is a profound change in the physical and chemical properties of the protein. In an

Activation Process of Pepsinogen [PDF]
The activation process of pepsinogen was analyzed by a combination of computer simulation and experiment. In order to investigate in detail the behavior of the basic schemes proposed in the previous study, further computer simulations were conducted. Some experiments were performed based on the information obtained.

Succinic anhydride reacts with pepsinogen to form succinylpepsinogen in which the 10 e-amino groups of the lysine residues are succinylated. In addition reaction occurs with 16 tyrosine residues and 10 to 13 hydroxyamino acid residues of the protein. In contrast to the O-succinyltyrosines of succinylpepsinogen which are spontaneously decomposed in 3 to
