Peptide fragmentation by keV ion-induced dissociation

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2010
We have studied multiple ionization and dissociation of a trapped protonated peptide (leucine enkephalin) as induced by keV singly and doubly charged ions (H(+), He(+, 2+)) to demonstrate the potential of keV ions as a future tool for peptide identification.

Sequence-Scrambling Fragmentation Pathways of Protonated Peptides

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2008
The gas-phase structures and fragmentation pathways of the N-terminal b and a fragments of YAGFL-NH(2), AGLFY-NH(2), GFLYA-NH(2), FLYAG-NH(2), and LYAGF-NH(2) were investigated using collision-induced dissociation (CID) and detailed molecular mechanics and density functional theory (DFT) calculations.

Peptide Identification Using Vectors of Small Fragment Ions

Journal of Proteome Research, 2005
Traditionally, peptide identification using fragmentation spectra relies on extracting the maximum amount of information from spectra. Using different combinations of small ion masses, we show that identifying a small number of fragment ions in a spectrum is sufficient for peptide identification.

Charge-Remote Fragmentation of Odd-Electron Peptide Ions

Analytical Chemistry, 2007
Comparison between the gas-phase fragmentation of odd-electron M+*, [M + H]2+*, and [M - 2H]-* ions of model peptides suggests that charge-remote radical-driven fragmentation pathways play an important role in the dissociation of odd-electron peptide ions.

Studies on peptide fragments of prion proteins

2001
Publisher Summary The prion diseases are neurodegenerative disorders of humans and animals that are sporadic or inherited in origin and can be transmitted. Despite remarkable differences in phenotypic expression, these disorders share a similar pathogenic mechanism— that is, a post-translational modification of the prion protein from a normal ...

Quetzal: Comprehensive Peptide Fragmentation Annotation and Visualization

Journal of Proteome Research
Proteomics data-dependent acquisition data sets collected with high-resolution mass-spectrometry (MS) can achieve very high-quality results, but nearly every analysis yields results that are thresholded at some accepted false discovery rate, meaning that a substantial number of results are incorrect. For study conclusions that rely on a small number of
