Genome‐Wide Association Study Reveals Insect Genetics and Microbial Symbiont Effects on Susceptibility of Diaphorina citri to the Citrus Greening Pathogen, Candidatus Liberibacter Asiaticus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the genetic and microbial factors influencing the susceptibility of Diaphorina citri to the citrus greening pathogen Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas), employing a microbiome Genome Wide Association Study. The research identifies a key gene encoding an MFS‐type transporter contributing to CLas infectivity and abundance in

Fungi - an Amalgam of Toxins and Antibiotics: a Mini- Review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Fungi are eukaryotes with many functions. Earlier, fungi were classified in the plant kingdom but were later classified as a separate kingdom due to their unique cell walls. Fungi are heterotrophs like animals and are more closely related to animals. The

Intracellular Aβ42 Sequestration by a Serine Protease Mitigates Neurotoxicity in a Drosophila Alzheimer's Disease Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Emerging evidence suggests that intraneuronal Aβ accumulation represents an early pathogenic event in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Using Drosophila AD model, this study shows that a nonsecreted serine protease Yip7 physically interacts with Aβ. This causes intraneuronal Aβ accumulation but surprisingly reduces the associated neurotoxicity, arguing that ...

Genome sequence of Acetomicrobium hydrogeniformans OS1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Acetomicrobium hydrogeniformans, an obligate anaerobe of the phylum Synergistetes, was isolated from oil production water. It has the unusual ability to produce almost 4 molecules H2/molecule glucose. The draft genome of A.

4‐Hydroxybenzyl Alcohol Mitigates Hyperlipidemia‐Associated Depression by Inhibiting Neuroinflammation via the NKIRAS2/NF‐κB Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
4‐HBA upregulates NKIRAS2 levels, inhibiting the activation of the NF‐κB pathway and subsequently reducing the levels of neuroinflammatory markers. This modulation helps restore normal mood and behavior in hyperlipidemic conditions, providing a potential therapeutic strategy for managing hyperlipidemia‐associated depression.

The Transcription Factor FgSge1 Harnesses the SAGA Complex to Activate Mycotoxin Biosynthesis and Fungal Virulence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals the molecular mechanism by which the transcription factor FgSge1 regulates mycotoxin biosynthesis and virulence in Fusarium graminearum. FgSge1 binds to the TAARGTTT cis‐element, enabling self‐activation. It recruits the SAGA complex, promotes histone acetylation, and facilitates jet‐like chromatin remodeling, thereby activating ...

Genome-based natural product biosynthetic gene cluster discovery : from sequencing to mining [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Natural products are small molecules produced by a range of living organisms. They may be toxic or have pharmaceutical applications as antibiotics, anticancer, antiparasitic and anti-fungal agents.

Adipocyte‐Derived Exosomal miR‐5099 Mitigates M1 Macrophage Polarization and Adipose Inflammation via c‐Met/NF‐κB Axis to Improve Metabolic Health

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Celastrol upregulates adipocyte‐derived exosomal miR‐5099, suppressing the macrophage c‐Met/NF‐κB axis to mitigate pro‐inflammatory M1 polarization and adipose inflammation. These miR‐5099‐enriched exosomes also act as endocrine signals targeting the liver, muscle, and adipocytes to significantly enhance systemic insulin sensitivity.

An unbiased approach elucidates variation in (S)-(+)-linalool, a context-specific mediator of a tri-trophic interaction in wild tobacco

open access: yes, 2019
Plant volatile organic compounds (VOCs) mediate many interactions, and the function of common VOCs is especially likely to depend on ecological context.
