Puromycin–rRNA interaction sites at the peptidyl transferase center

open access: yesRNA, 2000
The binding site of puromycin was probed chemically in the peptidyl-transferase center of ribosomes from Escherichia coli and of puromycin-hypersensitive ribosomes from the archaeon Haloferax gibbonsii. Several nucleotides of the 23S rRNAs showed altered chemical reactivities in the presence of puromycin.

The mitochondrial methylation potential gates mitoribosome assembly

open access: yesNature Communications
S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) is the principal methyl donor in cells and is essential for mitochondrial gene expression, influencing RNA modifications, translation, and ribosome biogenesis.

The ribosomal peptidyl transferase

open access: yes, 2017
Peptide bond formation on the ribosome takes place in an active site composed of RNA. Recent progress of structural, biochemical, and computational approaches has provided a fairly detailed picture of the catalytic mechanism of the reaction. The ribosome accelerates peptide bond formation by lowering the activation entropy of the reaction due to ...

Linezolid Susceptibility And Potential Resistance Mechanisms Among Mrsa Isolated From Two Major Public Hospitals In Malaysia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Linezolid is the first antibiotic of a new structural class, the oxazolidinones, to be approved for clinical use in 35 years. This antimicrobial agent is broadly effective against drug-resistant gram-positive pathogens which commonly cause infections ...
