Peptoid residues and beta-turn formation.
Journal of peptide science : an official publication of the European Peptide Society, 2002A set of terminally protected tripeptoids containing a residue of either N-methylglycine or N-isobutylglycine in position i + 1/i + 2 were synthesized and tested for intramolecularly H-bonded beta-turn formation. By exploiting FT-IR absorption and 1H NMR techniques, their folding tendencies were compared with those of a variety of reference peptides ...

The first synthesis of functionalized beta-peptoid macrocycles is reported. X-ray crystallographic structure of tetramer 9 reveals a C2-symmetrical derivative with unexpected all-cis-amide bonds and spatial disposition of the appendages toward the two opposite faces of the ring. Quantum calculations suggest that 9 is locked in this layout.

Bioactive peptide-peptoid hybrids
2007The synthesis and characterization are reported of peptide-peptoid hybrids of [Thr(6)]-bradykinin and some opioid and antimicrobial peptides. The tyrosine, phenylalanine, valine and arginine residues were partially or total replaced by N-alkyl- glycine residues.
