Oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neuropathy risk factors and management in Tunisian population

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2020
The most important limits of oxaliplatin treatment is its peripheral neurotoxicity. The aim of our study was to evaluate the oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neuropathy, its impact on treatment and its management.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Comprehensive analysis of peripheral dose in electron beam therapy with a Varian TrueBeam Linac

open access: yesRadiation Medicine and Protection
Objective: To investigate the characteristics of peripheral doses outside electron-beam applicators in Varian TrueBeam linacs. Method: Peripheral doses outside the electron applicator were measured for 6-, 9- and 12-MeV beams at the maximum dose depth ...

Quantitative detection of targeted neurotransmitters in dorsal root ganglia in rats with chronic peripheral neurotoxicity caused by oxaliplatin

open access: yesDi-san junyi daxue xuebao, 2020
Objective To observe the effects of oxaliplatin on the concentration of neurotransmitters in dorsal root ganglia in a rat model of chronic peripheral neurotoxicity. Methods A total of 24 male SD rats (SPF grade) were randomly divided into model group and

Limitations of the minimum peripheral dose as a parameter for dose specification in permanent 125I prostate implants

open access: yesInternational Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, 1996
The objective of this work is to investigate whether the minimum peripheral dose is a practical parameter for dose specification in permanent 125I implants of the prostate. The investigation was carried out by use of a computer model of ellipsoidal 125I implants in which the average dimension and elongation factor were varied to provide a wide range of ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
