Long‐Term Outcomes After Elective Splenectomy for Haematological Disease: A 27‐Year Single‐Centre Study

Splenectomy is a safe and effective treatment option in selected patients with haematological disease, despite declining referrals over the last 27 years in the era of targeted therapies. Outcomes are favourable when performed laparoscopically and long‐term follow‐up demonstrates sustained haematologic benefit in surviving patients.

Brain metastasis‐associated fibroblasts shape the tumour microenvironment to enhance cancer cell invasion

Brain metastasis‐associated fibroblasts are active stromal components of the metastatic niche characterised by extracellular matrix remodelling and production of pro‐migratory mediators. They promote monocyte and cancer cell migration and enhance cancer cell invasion while having no growth‐promoting effect on cancer cells.

CD93—An emerging vascular target in cancer therapy

Abstract CD93 is a single‐pass transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the C‐type lectin domain group XIV family of proteins. Although it is known to be expressed in other cell types, namely, in some subsets of immune cells, CD93 is primarily expressed on endothelial cells, where it acts as a crucial regulator of angiogenesis.
