Rotating magnetic fields (RMFs) are widely used for microrobot propulsion and control. We show that RMF generation with permanent magnets is mechanically feasible for many limb and intracranial applications but becomes constrained for thoracic targets.

A magnetic donut‐like millirobot is developed for label‐free pick‐and‐place of a tumor spheroid wirelessly controlled by a magnetic trap. Spheroids are important 3D multicellular culture systems that recapitulate key structural and functional features of native tissues.

Dual‐Mode Gripper With Suction and Shape‐Adaptive Freezing Grasps
This study presents a dual‐mode robotic gripper that combines vacuum suction with a shape‐adaptive freezing grasp. The freezing mode uses a compliant rubber membrane, a sprayed water layer, and dry‐ice powder to generate ice‐mediated adhesion while conforming to complex geometries.

The mitochondrial permeability transition pore in AD 2016: An update
Over the past 30 years the mitochondrial permeability transition the permeabilization of the inner mitochondrial membrane due to the opening of a wide pore has progressed from being considered a curious artifact induced in isolated mitochondria by Ca2 ...

The mitochondrial permeability transition pore
Biochemical Society Symposia, 1999This chapter reviews recent advances in the identification of the structural elements of the permeability transition pore. The discovery that cyclosporin A (CsA) inhibits the pore proved instrumental. Various approaches indicate that CsA blocks the pore by binding to cyclophilin (CyP)-D.

Genetic Dissection of the Permeability Transition Pore
Journal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes, 2005The permeability transition pore (PTP) regulates the structural re-organization of mitochondria in response to changes in cellular Ca(2+) and is thought to be an important participant in mitochondrial responses to cell death signals. Although the proteins forming the PTP have yet to be rigorously identified, recent examination of the response of ...

The mitochondrial megachannel is the permeability transition pore
Journal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes, 1992Single-channel electrophysiological recordings from rat liver mitoplast membranes showed that the 1.3-nS mitochondrial megachannel was activated by Ca++ and inhibited by Mg++, Cyclosporin A, and ADP, probably acting at matrix-side sites. These agents are known to modulate the so-called mitochondrial permeability transition pore (Gunter, T.

Tristability in mitochondrial permeability transition pore opening
Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 2021Mitochondrial permeability transition pore (PTP), a key regulator of cell life and death processes, is triggered by calcium ions (Ca2+) and potentiated by reactive oxygen species (ROS). Although the two modes of PTP opening, i.e., transient and persistent, have been identified for a long time, its dynamical mechanism is still not fully understood.

Mitochondrial permeability transition pore-dependent necrosis
Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, 2023Mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP)-dependent cell death is a form of necrotic cell death that is driven by mitochondrial dysfunction by the opening of the mPTP and is triggered by increases in matrix levels of Ca2+ and reactive oxygen species. This form of cell death has been implicated in ischemic injuries of the heart and brain as well

Pharmacology of mitochondrial permeability transition pore inhibitors
Drug Development Research, 2019AbstractIt is now firmly established that an important event in the formation of reperfusion injury of the heart is the opening of mitochondrial permeability transition pores (mPTPs), which changes the permeability of the mitochondria. mPTP opening results in the death of cardiomyocytes through activation of apoptosis and necroptosis.
