Granulosa cell proliferation is inhibited by PGE2 in the primate ovulatory follicle
Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) is a key paracrine mediator of ovulation. Few specific PGE2-regulated gene products have been identified, so we hypothesized that PGE2 may regulate the expression and/or activity of a network of proteins to promote ovulation.

Mycobacterium bovis (M. bovis) is a zoonotic pathogen that causes bovine and human tuberculosis. Dendritic cells play a critical role in initiating and regulating immune responses by promoting antigen-specific T-cell activation.

Consequences of altered eicosanoid patterns for nociceptive processing in mPGES-1-deficient mice [PDF]
Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)-dependent prostaglandin (PG) E2 synthesis in the spinal cord plays a major role in the development of inflammatory hyperalgesia and allodynia. Microsomal PGE2 synthase-1 (mPGES-1) isomerizes COX-2-derived PGH2 to PGE2.

The expression of the SMAD2, SMAD4, SMAD7, and СOX-2 genes and the levels of Smad4, phosphorylated Smad2, and Smad7 proteins were analyzed in the human breast cancer (BC) cell lines MCF-7, BT-474, and ZR-75-1.

Replication of Marek's Disease Virus Is Dependent on Synthesis of De Novo Fatty Acid and Prostaglandin E2 [PDF]
Marek’s disease virus (MDV) causes deadly lymphoma and induces an imbalance of the lipid metabolism in infected chickens. Here, we discovered that MDV activates the fatty acid synthesis (FAS) pathway in primary chicken embryo fibroblasts (CEFs).

Ascorbic acid enhances the inhibitory effect of aspirin on neuronal cyclooxygenase-2-mediated prostaglandin E2 production. [PDF]
Inhibition of neuronal cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and hence prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) synthesis by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs has been suggested to protect neuronal cells in a variety of pathophysiological situations including Alzheimer's disease ...

The angiogenic capability of PGE2 was tested by implanting pellets of an ethylene vinyl acetate slow release polymer containing PGE2 on the chorioallantoic membrane of 8-day-old chicken embryos. Elvax pellets releasing approximately 0.2, 2.0, or 20 ng/day PGE2 were found to induce neovascular responses.

Estradiol-17β, Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), and the PGE2 Receptor Are Involved in PGE2 Positive Feedback Loop in the Porcine Endometrium [PDF]
Before implantation, the porcine endometrium and trophoblast synthesize elevated amounts of luteoprotective prostaglandin estradiol-17beta (E(2)) (PGE(2)). We hypothesized that embryo signal, E(2), and PGE(2) modulate expression of key enzymes in PG synthesis: PG-endoperoxide synthase-2 (PTGS2), microsomal PGE synthase (mPGES-1), PGF synthase (PGFS ...

15-Keto-PGE2 acts as a biased/partial agonist to terminate PGE2-evoked signaling [PDF]
Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) is well-known as an endogenous proinflammatory prostanoid synthesized from arachidonic acid by the activation of cyclooxygenase-2. E type prostanoid (EP) receptors are cognates for PGE2 that have four main subtypes: EP1 to EP4.

Reduction of voluntary physical activity in mice induced by toll-like receptor 7 agonist R-848
The behavioral response of mice to infection is often demonstrated by a reduction in physical activity. Although it is known that single-stranded (ss) RNA, one of the genomes found in viruses, activates to produce type I interferon (IFNs) and pro ...
